Fcuking hell I’m always a glass half empty kind of guy when it comes to the Villa but goodness me the state of this thread tonight.  We are fighting for fourth not fourth bottom with this squad! It’s incredible we are still in it.

It went from them sticking ten behind the ball and not even looking like scoring to them looking like scoring every time they went forward at 2-3 up. It was a massive clusterfuck of a nine minutes but at least we got something out of it.

For me the thing that stands out is that the midfield seem scared to actually take a shot at goal from distance against a deep back 10….there were times McGinn / Douglas & Teilemans were all in shooting range and predictably tried another pass….Rogers was the only one shooting!

Naturally people are going to bw annoyed. Conceding 3 goals like that AGAIN people are getting fed up of it. You do it once but twice ? God thats bad.

I think as well people rightly are concerned about the recent home form. Its been very poor

Are we not just last year’s Arsenal albeit at a slightly lower level?

They have clearly learnt from last season’s experience as one would hope Villa will.

Not just a Villa problem. Every team does that now.

They obviously use stars and get told not to do it.

You do need to use some common sense because I see it so many times where you'd be better off taking a shot.

Konsa was terrible second half, and it cost us big time. He’s experienced enough not to perform like that, but in his defence, if he’d been in his natural CB position, with Cash at RB, Brentford wouldn’t have got a sniff.

We live and learn. I disagree with some opinions that we should be grateful of where we are - No we shouldn’t. That’s the difference between winners and losers, and I’m sure the players will be as frustrated, if not more, than we are by how things are panning out recently.

We could have been top at Xmas but shit the bed against the league’s bottom side, and we had our strongest side out today against one of the league’s most out of form sides….  and ballsed it up again.

Hopefully the experiences of this season will put us in good stead for the future, but it does give off that feeling of ‘oh what could have been’.

I still think we’ll finish 4th. If it wasn’t Spurs chasing us, I’d maybe be a little more concerned…. But it’s Spurs.

Onto Lille and a result which will hopefully put us within reach of a European semi.

Cash is out injured. Konsa earned his first cap as a right back recently.

I think the problem is, when these bad periods happen it’s not that we become a bit stodgy it’s that we become completely hapless and inept. Konsa is a great example, having a great season but in that 9 minutes he was about as effective as a traffic cone on three separate occasions. It’s ok for your levels to drop a bit, but it can’t drop so much that you completely turn a game on its head. There should be more leadership and awareness of that in game.

The one thing I would say is that we have looked a bit short of leaders on the pitch when things have got a bit tough this season.  We just don't seem to have that bit of experience and nous to manage things when we're up against it.

Mings was our warrior. When he did his ACL I thought we would struggle to make 7th again. That's one of the reasons why I am happy to be where we are. If he hadn't done his ACL Pau would have been eased in and would have sat out certain games. We have really missed Mings in games like today.

His loss was then compounded by us losing Kamara. Honestly, we have done well to hold it together.

I realise that. But RB Konsa is nowhere near as good as CB Konsa.

I’d be tempted to throw KKH in against Bournemouth and revert Konsa to CB.

Maybe. We haven't had a settled back four since the injuries started before Christmas

And can we stop singing that 'Small Heath get battered' rubbish? It makes us sound our obsessed loons.

Another battering on the weekend won't help with confidence either.

When is Cash back? Next week by any chance? Don't fancy Konsa against Saka.
