It’s just remarkable what what Unai has done with us and turned us into. 8 games to go and now with a very legitimate chance of finishing 4th and at worst 5th approximately 18 months from being a relegation candidate.

And terrible injuries.

I am very unpopular on match threads, I take it, I go a bit OTT but it's just that I have never ever had this level of faith in any villa manager before.

Pluses:

3 points
Clean sheet
Rogers and Duran showing glimpses of their undoubted potential.
Zaniolo continuing to contribute positively
KKH debut

Negatives
Moreno off colour
Ollie being subbed off - hope it was either tactical or to rest him

To be fair their players were probably conserving their energy for Wembley

Just a touch too young to remember it!

I think Rogers, Duran, and Zaniolo all show signs of being really good players. Zaniolo hasn't been at the races all season, maybe for obvious reasons, but I wouldn't be furious if we end up keeping him. Rogers looks physically strong and well able for the league, he just needs more time under Emery. And then Duran seems like pure raw talent who needs a bit more intelligence, for want of a better word. (Sounds like The Wizard of Oz!)

Point being, they could be very exciting players for the future, but probably none of them would have been playing today if McGinn, Kamara and Ramsey were available.

Sir Graham first time around was universally popular wasn’t he? Sir Brian and Big Ron had moments but couldn’t sustain it.

Ropey first half, much better second and ultimately very comfortable. Great subs from Emery today.

Good to see Dougie avoid a booking.

Needs to dodge  2 more yellows in the next 2 league games, otherwise he'll be suspended for 2 matches under the totting up process.

Brutal that we have potentially now lost Watkins.

We beat their youth team apparently according to the Dingles invading the official Villa Facebook page.

Duran played really well and caused all sorts of problems. Digne starts next game, no brainier and only one of Diaby or Bailey, can't have both of them at City. Four wins to guarantee it I reckon so a free hit at City.
