We may appear to have missed out on Geertruida, but he's going to be a first choice at an established Champions League club rather than 4th choice here.

I'm very much on the glass-more-than-half-full side here, but that's just...a bit silly.

What's silly about it? He'd not be ahead of Mings I reckon, and definitely behind Konsa and Torres. Possibly first choice Right Back, but I'm not sure, and as for his midfield credentials he's way down the pecking order if he comes to us.

The fact that he'd have been coming in as first-choice right back.

Oh right, the one everyone was saying was a replacement for Carlos, the Centre Back in the squad? You're right, silly.

If they were (and they weren't) then I'm pretty sure they've never seen him play before. Because he's a right-back. Who has filled in, very occasionally at centre-back. When needed.

Or maybe, at a time when we seemingly have to sell another academy player to justify every last penny that we spend, we decided the number one priority was to spend £30m on a fourth choice auxiliary centre back.

Who, in his occasional few minutes off the bench would be playing out of his favoured position. That he's played for most of his career. Which is right-back.

There are various points I thought i could make, but it's not happening, so it's pointless. Enjoy your day! And, to avoid any doubt, yes, I'm really silly. And I don't care.

If we get Chalobah as the next option instead of the Dutch fella I reckon Monchi's database is actually Sofascore (they are almost identical in terms of attributes).

6/10 window.

I think Tielemans is as good as Luiz in pretty much all aspects of midfield player so not too concerned with CM at this juncture until injuries hit.

Certainly don't need more injuries hitting defence as we are lighter there than last season, that's a fact no matter how things are spun. Last season our reserve CB was guy who'd played for Barca and Spurs in previous seasons, now it's someone who's been on loan at Bristol Rovers last two years.

I can fully understand us taking 60m for Diaby. I'd have liked him to stay as I think over time he'd have improved like Bailey has and his stats were solid if not general performances.

We flirted with Felix and seemingly no plan B target, same for Geertriuda so that's the big disappointment of the window.

Big chances for Ned and Jaden now but them together in a tough CL away game just feels a bit too young to me. Terrific experience for both of them but I wasn't quite expecting that potential combination when we qualified in May.

It's worth remembering Rogers and Kosta came out of the summer budget. It obviously put us under more financial stress when closing the June accounts but both were very clever business. Rogers I don't need to explain, Kosta I think is going to surprise a lot of people.

I do too.

The kid was already playing in the Champions League with Red Star. His baptism to the Premier League came a little quicker than expected but like Maatsen, I reckon both will be starters pretty soon.

Donk going is interesting and opens up some wages to look at getting someone else in, no idea who though.

How are we lighter in defence if we have lost Moreno and Lengelt, but gained Maatsen, Ned and Mings?

Bogarde coming through as a genuine backup option as well.

I'm also starting to think Monchi might not be all he's cracked up to be.

Some of us did say that he wasn't actually transfer Jesus at the time we brought him in.

Well it looks like you were bang on the money. I knew nothing about him, but I do seem to recall people saying that his last few seasons hadn't really been very inspiring. He was second choice as well wasn't he, after the bloke who looked like he was coming but then didn't.

For me, a justification for including buendia is to play him and get his value up. Another year with no football and he’s worthless. Some cameos this season and we might recoup most his cost or better still prove to be a worthy squad member.

We haven’t got the income to just burn through wages. If they’re here they need to be involved.

Neds barely played and you're saying he looks out of his depth, it's a bit ridiculous really.
That's kind of the point.  He's hardly played and when he has he has looked promising in moments, but a liability in others.  Has he got a bright future?  Very possibly.  Do I think we should be starting our Champions League season with him potentially as a starting right back?  Absolutely not.

It's all a bit grubby, this deadline day nonsense, isn't it?

I'm 100% sure I speak for everyone here when I say we're better off keeping our dignity and staying out of it.

See? One hour has passed and there hasn't been a single dissenting reply to this. Truly, I am the voice of H&V. Close the thread, moderaters. I will be lunching in my chambers today.

Any more a liability than Cash (who I rate!)?

He's been available for 2 games and has played in both, how is that 'hardly played'?

I think Corey's point was I was criticising a player who hasn't played much for us so it was unfair of me to make a judgment.  My counterpoint was that at this stage of his career I don't think he's good enough to be a starting right back for a Champions League team.
