Selling Archer looks ridiculous

By the end of this window I’m pretty sure we will have spent everything the two sets of rules allow us to. Anyone who wants us to spend more, whether they know it or not, wants a points deduction/fine/transfer ban.

I think spending money on Dobbin, and the 2 Juve  players could have been spent on improving us for this season.

Maybe the Kamara recovery has enabled Barrenechea to go, but seemingly with things so tight not sure they were the best use of scarce funds.

Im really pissed off about this one tbh. Another we will regret missing out on

One question i have is if we had no money left how were we intending to sign felix? He would have cost a bomb. I do believe we have some money as i dont think it was dependent on duran being sold

No matter how many times you say this it doesn't get any more true. Put it another way, if Villa were linked with spending £15 million on a forward who struggled to shine at a woeful Sheffield United team and hadn't scored against a current top flight team this year, and it wasn't a former Villa player, would you have been excited about the deal?

How many times are you going to repeat it though? We've got two better strikers.

I predict:

Outs - maybe

Ins - none at all

I think the Iling Jnr loan has possibly baffled me the most right now. We are a Bailey injury from being very light out wide, where he would have been a very decent option. Barronechea I get needing minutes, and he's behind a number of people. Right side of the defence is a huge concern. It does feel very very deflating that we've done so bloody well to get here, and basically been chloroformed as we've walked in the door, dragged back out and left to look in again. I would be very interested to hear some of the reasoning on some deals though.

With us unable to buy anyone else and Chelsea spending another half a billion, it's quite clear that we will never be able to overtake the Sky 6 aside from the odd season.

Let's just enjoy this season as there's no doubt the usual suspects will be back in their god given slots before long.

I agree. It does seem that the rules keep those at the top fully in charge.

Monopolisation seems to be the end game for a special few teams.

The rest have dreams.

I suspect it was predicated on Duran leaving for £40m (and Archer).

That's massively disappointing. Looks like we're done, unless we can turn up a desperation Zaniolo type.

Underwhelming window.

I think Unai will use Rogers as the Diaby replacement and SJM as the Bailey cover if needed. JP is nowhere near the required level, which is baffling because he was a shining star during last season's pre-season. Hasn't looked like the same player.

Annoying but I suspect we’ve over stretched ourselves over the past few years and “the rules” have caught up with us.  If the rules were different then I’d back our owners to have been more ambitious.

If correct, then maybe we should be grateful we achieved the CL objective as Everton have pretty much gone bust trying to do the same thing (but backing the wrong horses).
