Him and Carlos are meat and two veg plodders, not going to be good enough in the CL but been solid enough for us, they both cost a lot but at the going rate for plodders these days

Precisely. Diego in fairness was highly rated when he joined us and that injury really fucked him up. But yeh, that Carlos is now linked with West Ham or Fulham is about right. And Donck wouldn't be out of place at a bottom 8 PL side or aspiring Championship side.

Donk was brought in because we thought Luiz might go to Arsenal.

I read something horrific today about us signing Dan Burn for £25m.

Wasn’t Donk signed because Bouba got injured straight after joining us?

He must be early to mid 30s, and is pretty limited, and a Newcastle fan. I can't see him leaving, or any possible realm of the multiverse where a football club managed by Emery would buy him, let alone spend £25m on him. Did someone say we spent £14m on Dendonker.... Ah that club.

I hear he's great fun.

Oh no, wait. That's someone else.

That obviously won’t happen, but if it were true that would arguably be one of the poorest signings we’ve ever made. Not because he’s a terrible player, but he’s absolutely not the type of defender we need and the fee quoted given his age is insane.

And I don’t expect our owners to be too keen on handing the other club threatening the ‘top 6’ funds to help them do it.

Do we think we will sign any players on loan this season? Think both Lenglet and Zaniolo were pretty underwhelming last season but could see the logic in both after Mings and Buendia went down when they did.

Still worried we'll sign Joe Gomez.

Was surprised to see that we're the highest spenders (gross, not net) in world football this summer.

By quite a wide margin as well (c. £148m, Bayern in second at c. £122m)

Surely Chelsea have spent more than that?

They seem to spend 40m every other day this summer.
