Duran and Diego for Leao and Tomori seems fair to me.

I quite like Emi B, but I think there’s some rose tinted reflection on his time this far. He’s had some lovely moments, but there’s been a lot of dross too.

I agree, he’s not a CL player, I think we’ll buy another no10

He won’t last long under Emery if he doesn’t curb his giving the ball away tendencies.

Buendia would have been great for us last season because he plays at a quick pace and can play snappy through balls in to the forwards.

His biggest problem was the amount of time he spent on his arse with his arms in the air because someone physical had bullied him off the ball.

Last summer, he had bulked up more and wasn’t being forced off the ball and going down so easily in pre-season, and he was playing brilliantly.

He’s still got the extra muscle mass, look at the training pics, he’s a unit now. I think he is definitely capable of being in this side.

Well that's the summer's distraction  out of the way.

Now we can concentrate on the really important stuff:

Seven pre-season friendlies
Our new home strip
Who's incoming
Our new away kit
Who's outgoing
Our third strip

I'd agree with that as well and think he is an impact sub at best at that level.

For me watching Emi B, he gives the ball away to often, and physically he does struggle,  if we are to compete in against the top teams both in the Premier and Europe, we need a better player in that position - I would not be surprised to see Morgan Rogers be given the No. 10 role in the team.

The general consensus on here last summer was that Buendia wasn't good enough for where we were after half a season with Emery. Some were impressed with his preseason form, but we have kicked on massively from where we were last summer.

Agreed. I'm a big fan of Buendia. He's also got the industry and application to go with his skill, which I imagine Emery would appreciate.

Scores headers too, despite being a shortarse. Gotta love that.

I think it's those snappy through balls that are his biggest problem. Far too often he plays them straight to a defender when under little or no pressure. I like him though, he gets stuck in and Zaniolo, as his replacement, really didn't impress at all bar the odd game.

I have a feeling that in the year that he's been out, we're possibly outgrown Buendia. We'll see though, there's certainly never been any lack of fight or intensity from Little Emi, so if anybody can come back, he can.

According to BBC Gossip, we are linked with Mikel Merino.

Arsenal are favourites to beat Aston Villa in the race to sign Real Sociedad and Spain midfielder Mikel Merino, 28, this summer. (Mundo Deportivo via Goal)

Looked OK playing for Spain at the Euros, nothing spectacular, he spent a year at Newcastle, no i don't remember him either.
Probably nothing in it.

He also strikes me as the sort of player with quite a lot of raw material for Emery et al to work with, and he's probably never really had how he plays analysed like Emery and his guys presumably will have.

So it's quite possible that the year out has ruined him, but maybe we're getting a whole, new improved version back.

We were linked with him last summer too, he's a cracking player. Not sure how true it is given we're signing Onana though.
