Aston Villa are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso.

Unai Emery is a big fan of the player with several other clubs interested. The Argentine is likely to leave Spurs this summer.

Rinse and repeat would take him for £5m

Decent player.

Income is likely to be close to or exceed £300m this year.

Indeed, but income, or profit/loss for the year ending this month, is the more pertinent figure for now. My guess is £260m, and a hell of a wage bill. Thankfully, no shit manager and staff pay-offs.

OK so £93m in 23, but even with the £260M turnover and the £24M dropping off so the 2 year running total is say £71M, with the fees last summer, plus wages, we have £34M wiggle room in losses in 24. How tight to that do you think we are Percy?

Our attempt to get that £30m voted through suggests to me we are very tight. Also, all the talk of the Barkley deal going through in early July could be a clue. Truth is we don’t know anything for sure about the profit/loss for the current year, I’m just looking for hints and clues.

Always thought this was an obvious one. I’d be all for it I think. The Argentina fans love him don’t they?

I’d be slightly suspicious that he’s rarely played a whole season for his club. Either that’s injuries or it suggests he can look good but struggles for consistency.

We made a profit on player trading (of about £10m) if you take the fees we paid and amortise them over the contracts and then add loan fees. That doesn't include the changes in wages, signing fees and agent fees though but once you take off all the costs to fuck off Gerrard and fund all the replacements (I reckon this alone counted for £40-50m if you look at the reports at the time) and you add on the revenue from Europe and the extra prize money I'd be surprised if we don't end up pretty much having broken even last year, I see no version where we'd be needing to sell someone before the end of the month to get inside the figures for this year. If the Betano and Adidas first round of money is also in this month (given both have already started) and counts towards the figures then I'd be pretty confident that the next accounts will see a profit.

Fabrizio Romano is saying the Barkley deal is in the bag.

I hope you’re right mate. In an ideal world getting rid of the deadwood would be enough to fund whatever Unai wants to do, or alternatively I could live with one big sale to fund three or four big signings. I just don’t want us to be forced into selling for no real gain.

A low key start i guess . But makes sense from a we ain't got a pot to piss in perspective.
We need to bite the bullett sell a couple and let UE/Monchi work their magic.
Viva Las Vegas baby.

The fact he could barely get a kick for Spurs last season, also a concern. Slower paced league would suit him better. It's silly season for transfers, very little will happen until after the Euros and our financial situation clarified.

Seems like we're looking at quite a lot of players judging by the sheets of paper you see in the Players of Interest folder.

AC Milan looking at Metty Cesh apparently.

If we had to sell one of our first teamers, Cashy would be the easiest to let go. Not that I don't rate him.

I like Matty as a person, but I agree with this.

Think the main reason I'd be in favour of it is that it would suggest we've got a better, first-choice right-back coming in.

And while Cash is good, it's clearly a part of the team that could be upgraded.

The sponsorship income would have to be spread across the length of the period it's been "earned" for so I wouldn't expect a month or two's worth of Betano and Adidas to make much of a dent on our '23/'24 revenue.
