His Dad is Bobby Brown and an Arsenal fan? He’s bound to try to get him to sign for them. But that’s his prerogative, I suppose.

Can I take this opportunity to thank Bobby Brown for not having many famous songs, thereby killing off this punfest at birth. Every little step we can take to avoid such a thing must be enacted.

He was married to a crush of mine in Whitney Houston. I was upset at the time but no point getting so emotional about it.

It's not right, but it's okay.

A lot of chat on here on splashing out £20m for a squad player. I’d say we need to be getting better value to meet FFP regulations.

I couldn't care less if I tried what news papers or other fans think about us and FFP regulations. If the club deem a deal worth doing and they do it then they believe we are complying with FFP and PSR. I would say 90% of the noise being made from outside the club is absolutely nonsense or we already have a sale lined up and replacements ready to pull the trigger on.
There are bargains to be had out there but the going rate for a premier league player is probably around the 20 million mark. Just look at Chuckwemeka and Archer.

I think if we're really concerned about PSR, we don't sign Nedeljković for about £8m in January.

Or Rogers, you'd think. I doubt they expected him to contribute so much so quickly to our Champions League push.

I didn't include the Rogers example because I think with Ramsey's problems and our problems with that left-sided position, it was more of a pressing need. Whereas a signing where we immediately loaned him back, for that kind of fee, really doesn't suggest the kind of problem that is likely to result in us selling a key player. If there was a real risk that we might have to sell Ramsey or Luiz, surely you just don't buy Nedeljković, and yes, maybe hope that Zaniolo improves or Ramsey overcomes his issues.

Don't be cruel, for some of us the punfest is all we have.

I think the opposite lock the thread!

He would certainly be a welcome "New Edition".

Weston McKennie could spark transfer battle between Newcastle United, Aston Villa & Everton as Premier League trio weigh up €25m swoop for USMNT & Juventus star

The transfer window is now open, as we have our first link to Weston McKennie. I wouldn't pay more than £2m for him.

A bit is kind. After being linked for so long I thought he was going to be great for them, but did very little. Adams looked the better player, Bournemouth snapped him up last summer.

Our FFP position is not that we’ll ‘have to’ sell a player to balance the books, more that we might want to sell one for £50m to enable us to buy 3 or 4 players at that level.

I think book-balancing is easily achievable by getting rid of the likes of Sanson, and losing Langlet and Zaniolo off the wage bill.

I agree but there's plenty of people who buy the line that we need to sell someone, or at least, that we're not going to be able to spend any money this summer. I'm not one of those.

McKennie is the new McCarthy, we're always linked with him. Unlike Benni, he's shit.

I think it depends if Unai and Monchi want to do major surgery or more gradual evolution. Major surgery probably requires selling a big name. But I personally think there’s also lot we could do with a cull of non-contributors who they don’t rate. Chambers, Carlos, Coutinho, Donk, Tim, Sanson, Langlet and  Zaniolo could be replaced by two signings and everyone else getting fit for instance.

I saw a tweet the other day that I was quite impressed by, wherein the bloke had come up with a list of 18 we could let go that could be adequately replaced by 5 new players (that he also listed). Can’t recall it verbatim but it made a lot of sense (to me at least).

I do think a lot of people over-estimate what we’d get for unwanted players though. PSR times are hard for a lot of clubs, as we saw in January.
