It’s good our owners are exploring the possibility of buying them….

Is FFP a thing in Brazil? Could Vasco De Gama sign Mbappe for 500k a week then loan him to us with Villa paying 1% of his wages, no loan fee?

What I’m most annoyed about is how we have been left behind. Since we won the European Cup we have failed to fully take advantage of our place in the game. And a decade later when the PL was created, we once again had a huge opportunity to set our mark and grow with a newly formed global sports brand. Instead we watched Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea, more recently Liverpool and then Man City dominate the landscape and hoover up pretty much every single title going. And even Blackburn and Leicester got in on the act briefly. I’m not going to get upset about us trying to do the same. I know I shouldn’t feel that way when we go buy (partner with) sides in Portugal or Brazil or wherever. If we don’t those we want to compete with are. There are plenty of other things we buy into to satisfy our attention when it comes to commercial outrage. Plenty of places where fleecing of the less fortunate goes on and we as consumers subconsciously condone and consciously participate in it. In whatever time I have left I want to see Villa win again and as ethically and responsibly as possible. As challenging as that is to do at times.

BTW, your scouting last year at Sporting shows you can really spot a player, what was it, his fourth first team appearance? Diomande now available for between €50m - €60m. He's still only 20 years old.

Gold Star, Mr Withe!

Very kind Old Thing but I must concede I have no recollection of that or him whatsoever, must have been when they played Everton as thats the only Sporting game I can recall seeing

It was either Sporting against Spurs or Arsenal in 22/23. Probably Arsenal,  either way Sporting beat them both.

The main Sporting player I see us still getting linked with is Pedro Goncalves.

Any truth in twitter theory that we are buying Vasco and selling Coutinho to them? Brilliant if we can get away with it.

I saw the Coutinho to Vasco rumour a few weeks ago. Didn't see anything about us buying them too!

There were a few tweets about V Sports buying them it in the middle of the night (I work nights) but for some reason latest tweets on the AVFC hashtag are not loading for me now, so I can’t find them. They were in Portuguese anyway, and I could only get the gist of them from the replies.

I found a few links to articles that claims V Sports could be interested but right now they're owned by a US group, 777 who are in serious financial trouble, salaries to players and staff haven't been paid, etc. The courts are taking action and all is expected to be decided soon, they have already rejected 777's appeal against the charges. Vasco da Gama, the club named after a shopping centre, are looking to bring in Coutinho who is hoping to finish his career there - at the club not the shopping centre. He wants to break his contract with us. Their fans are very excited of his return to Brazil.

Just looked again and there are tonnes of links to the story. It could be wishful thinking on their side but if I had to put my neck on the line I reckon the rumour has wings. Distressed owners of massive club who realistically need to sell.

From what I can see Daniel Morais is the journalist who broke the story. @daanielmorais

Here's the legal porn for Ads and anybody else interested..Cruzmaltino's SAF are the owners of Vasco, they are owned by 777 Partners, the US company.

'The 4th Business Court of the Rio de Janeiro Court of Justice accepted, on Wednesday night (15), Vasco da Gama's request and removed control of Cruzmaltino's SAF from the '777 Partners' group.

The preliminary decision is signed by judge Paulo Assed Estefan. The Rio club's request in the action, which is being carried out under judicial secrecy, was based on article 477 of the Civil Code, which takes into account news about the financial situation of '777', which is being prosecuted for fraud in the United States.

The judge decided to suspend the effect of the contracts and also appointed an independent company, ordering the preparation of an economic-financial report, including the accounting operations of SAF do Vasco'.

We might not be allowed to, we don't know exactly what the situation is.

The Citeh stuff will ultimately determine what happens with these rules. If they get a slap on the wrist the rules are dead in the water.

Yes, but they keep lending Everton money, somehow.
