Sometimes I wonder how much other football people watch. Granted, everyone's entitled to their opinion and all that. But I don't know - how can you watch the game in general and not notice how good Douglas Luiz was for at the very least half this season? Like, what more are you expecting?

A decent second half. His passing, work rate and attitude hasn't been right for me the second half. If someone offered £60m for him I think we could ease FFP and find better.
Find better?  This is why I thank God fans don't make transfer decisions.

I'm just sitting here chuckling to myself, people are picking flies or saying 'i don't think they're that good really' about most of the key players that have seen us achieve our best finish since 1996, not to mention the 6 months before and rise from relegation fodder to Europe. Luiz, Watkins, McGinn, Tielemans, Digne i think i even saw a comment about Martinez. And then some of those think Ross Barkley's Banker would be a good idea. A big sulking disaster for most of his last stint.

I think some are bothered by Sunday's result a bit more than they want to admit !

I agree with the first part of this, and for the reasons you stated, but IMO Barkley will be a good player for us next season.

All of that screams "free transfer" to me.

Or at the very least, "nominal fee". I'm fairly on the record that Digne should stay and there should be any reason to sell him any more than anyone else in our first eleven, but if he is seen as some sort PSR-solving cheat-code, or he's keen to go back to France then I can see it might make sense to get £15m for him, lose £120k per week in wages and replace him with a £3-4m equivalent costing £70k per week in wages.

But definitely not on the numbers in the current links.

Exactly where I am. I still think Digne will be here next season though.

I get it about reducing the wage bill and ffp etc, but just on playing ability, Digne was one of our most consistent performers last season.

Absolutely! An unsung hero from last season. I really did doubt his attitude and reaction when we brought Moreno in but he's been nothing but super professional and committed. Sunday was the first time I've seen him have a poor game all season and probably last season too. He has more than played his part in our achievements since Unai arrived, adapted his game where necessary, another player who last season played more minutes than he should have but never complained or gave less than 100%.

If we are to sell him for whatever reason, I really hope we're looking at an improvement and that won't be easy given our budget restrictions, even for somebody with Monchi's reputation.

Memphis Depay leaving Atletico on a free transfer.

So another name to chuck in the "freebies to help build the squad on a budget" pot. Only 30, can play wide or central, been decent everywhere apart from his season at Man Utd.

The thing about Digne is when we were trying to sell him last summer he was a) not getting in the team over Moreno, and b) apparently one of our highest paid players.

This summer he is arguably ahead of Moreno, definitely had a better season, and between new signings and deals, I don't think he's the top earner any more either.

Who’s saying those players aren’t good enough? Either than a couple of crackpot takes on Doug.

As Dan Bardell pointed out, it won't be easy to sell or move on players we don't want anymore. They won't want to leave when we have CL football and they are on good contracts. If they refuse to go we cannot force them out and cannot afford to keep players we don't want to use. Tricky situation all round.

That’s not taking into account that those players will probably realise that despite us being in the CL they’re not likely to play and so may well want to go and play somewhere. There are still plenty of good pros out there and I don’t see anything from the likes of Chambers, Dendoncker etc to suggest they’re not. They can still do a job in the PL if playing regularly. Add to that the fact that we’ll be sending a couple back from loans and I don’t think it’s a big concern.

We won't bring in enough by selling Chambers and Deaddonkey. I'm thinking of the need to satisfy ffp by selling Digne or Carlos or Luiz. None of them will want to leave.

Wouldn't be a disaster if we kept those though would it? Carlos could do with some consistency but as i pointed out earlier the other 2 have been vital in us finishing 4th. Does anyone actually genuinely know the situation with our finances or is it all just guesswork? I'd just let the summer play out and see what happens but i'm confident those in charge will make us better overall by the time it kicks off again and without risking points deductions.

We managed it quite quickly after the Stevenage debacle. Those mentioned won't play regularly, bar an injury crisis, if they stay. Season long loans with buy options, like with Sanson, the most likely option. Hoping Carlos might generate some interest.

Reluctantly I’d sell Ramsey ahead of Luiz (if the rumoured £50m is obtainable). Rogers and Buendia are capable of scrapping it out for his position (with Kellyman also promoted).

The FFP wiggle room created can then be spent on genuine competition for Kamara.

Keep hearing having to sell someone in June to balance FFP / PSR or whatever it is this week…but what we never hear is how much needs to be raised.

As Forest found out when vultures now you need to sell you never get the right price so is it a valid discussion to just ignore the supposed deadline…4-6 points is the precedent

Alternatively I think Zed paying 30m for Coutinho works for me :-)

Yes, I would be interested in hearing one of these reporters who keep telling us we have to sell Luiz &/or Ramsey to balance FFP/PSR/ETC, exactly how short we are on meeting the deadline.

They must know, if they are reporting about how much we are going to have to sell each player for, etc, to cover that fucking ridiculous FFP/PSR/ETC farce...
