I think these are the types of signings we need to be making - 2 or 3 more of these would be hugely welcome this summer for low fees and wages.

We know our first XI is good enough to beat anyone in the league. We just need the rotational options to keep our best players fresh and fit for those big games.

I love this signing. Respect to Barkley too for going to Luton and working his way back up to earn a spot at a Champions League club. He had an excellent season for them.

We're open to selling Diego Carlos. There is interest in Jacob Ramsey, but he doesn't want to leave, and only likely to be sold if we fail to sell others.

I know that he's "one of our own" and all that, but I wouldn't be opposed to selling JJ.
I fear that he's a bit fragile physically, so it might be best to cash in now. Even though there is the risk that he turns into a superstar.

I love how quickly we move in the market. The day after the season ends and we're already bolstering the squad with rotational options for next year.

Still feels really weird having such a competent approach from our club.

Did not see that one coming - had written it off even when rumours were flying about.  Still, I do love a player who can perform a Hutton-esque transformation.

Not having a go mate but I don't get this, Ramsey is only behind Martinez and Watkins for me in the 'last player you'd want to leave'. Saying he's a bit fragile when he's bost his foot and had problems trying to rush back is a bit unfair too.

Well if it happens, I can't say I'm not slightly surprised, but it doeas appear to provide cover in a number of positions. Hope we get the motivated, fit, Luton version, and not the always injured sulking Villa version, although he was brilliant in at least 3 games for us.

Not sure there would be many who would have thought we'd see him in a Villa shirt again after he left.

We were talking about this on the train back yesterday, and my son or his mate rightly pointed out that a lot of us are forgetting just how good the kid was for the 2nd half of last season.  I wouldn't want to see that version of JJ playing for one of our rivals.  And yes, Spuds and Newcastle will be our rivals next season to keep our seat at the top table.

We've missed Ramsey this season, as he plays that role on the left hand side perfectly.  Rogers did well there, but Ramsey has just got that extra bit of athleticism.and drive forward, and Rogers might be better suited to a more advanced role anyway.

I think it would be hard to replace Ramsey, but there is an obvious name that springs to mind and I have seen rumours have already started.

If it's who I think it is he can get fucked.

Very much this.  You see so many players piss their careers up the wall and although it looked like Barkley had pretty much done that his season at Luton showed a great attitude.

On the downside, I'm reminded of another career piss awayer - that tongue-out, flute-playing prick from Man Utd, who also had one good season at West Ham before reverting to type.  So whilst I'd be reasonably pleased with Barkley, I'd also be a bit concerned until we see him do the business on the pitch.

But that isn't the position Barkley has looked good in for Luton. He'll be competing with Luiz, I imagine.

This can't be real surely. Barkley is one of the worst players I have ever seen put on a Villa shirt and I will be horrified to see him do it again, good season at Luton or not, on a free or not, home grown or not. I'll never forget that clip of him walking around the pitch aimlessly looking completely disinterested. We should be thanking our lucky stars we were able to send him back to Chelsea last time.

I think like Tielemans he'll play a variety of roles.
