The same would probably have been said about Moreno when we brought him in. Emery likes to play with one full-back that's more like a winger.

Frimpong would be great as the attacking fullback but that arguably moves the problem to LB where either Mings or Pau would having fulfil the Konsa role.

Isn't that a solution rather than a problem? It means that the preferred way of playing can be adjusted depending on the circumstances.

I suppose it depends how confident you are that Mings/Pau can move seamlessly from CB to LB.

With the best will in the world I can’t envisage Mings as a full back.

And with so much of our play building through pau, there's no way he's going to full back

Yeah, I think Mings makes a better centre back.

Played there for most of his early career.  Bournemouth signed him as one.

Wasn't we trying this in pre season? I was expecting it to be tested in the prem until the injury so I wouldn't be surprised if we flip what we do with Konsa. Not that I'd agree with it and hopefully enough has changed.

There were a number of games pre season when Torres either come on and played wide left, or switched to wide left.

Thinking back, wasn't it terrible?

Not especially, no.

He wasn't bombing to the line and getting crosses in. He was still lining up essentially as one of our centre backs - almost in a back three - and pinging passes from there.

They wouldn't be moving there to do the job that a typical left-back like Digne or Moreno does, they'd be in effect doing the job of a centre-back, allowing an attacking right-back to be used.

Inverting how Moreno / Konsa work at the moment.

No, I don't think Mings will be skinning full-backs and whipping crosses in from the touchline. But playing on the left-side of Konsa - Torres - Mings, or Konsa - Carlos - Torres, with a hot attacking right-back on the other side of Konsa, and a great left-winger in front of them who doesn't need to worry so much about defending anymore because they haven't got Moreno overlapping them?

Sure, why not.

Their centre back Yoro is highly rated if anyone fancies some scouting. Haven’t tested him much so far.

He'll be off to Madrid or Bayern, I think. Very highly rated.
