I know we have a fair few injured at the moment, but the main issue we're having now is that the summer signings haven't improved last year's squad. Torres aside, we're still mostly relying on the players we already had.

Tielemans on his game is an asset and there have been signs of that. What we do miss is JJ Ramsey's ability to drive up the pitch from midfield. We have no one else with that kind of ability in the middle and he's basically been a write-off this season for us.

We have Dougie but he's cruising again tonight.

When McGinn passed the ball slightly behind him about halfway through that half, he just slowed his run and looked up.  No urgency knowing full well they were breaking on us.  That worried me.  Not the attitude you need in the middle of the park.

This is worse than anything Gerrard plated up .

It reminds me of the Everton Carabao game but far worse

Without doubt it's the worst Villa performance in my 50 years following us.

Tielemans and Diaby have had their moments but on the whole, over the course of the season, they haven't performed with any consistency. Zaniolo hasn't clicked at all.
Yes, we're missing the player JJ was last season, but that's my point. Three new midfielders and we're still hampered by a player we already had being off form.

Can't be as bad this half surely, though I did say that against Newcastle, would settle for pens now!

Can only imagine Unai told the starting XI to sort this out. Personally I'd have made several substitutions.

We looked a better footballing side in the 45 minutes we played rugby against Aston Brook St Mary's than we do tonight.
