My fear with Emery is that analysis is great, but it can squeeze the creative life out of you when all you have is the plan.

The joy we all felt after the back wins over City and Arsenal. It was supposed to be different this time. But we're Villa

Diaby cannot come out second half.

Yep, needs some time out.

Hoping we have a Plan B as Plan A has been figured out. Early ball to centre forward is cut out, so we have periods of sterile possession instead. I'm thinking we should catch them cold second half and get two out wide hugging the touchline. Bailey and Ramsey on for Diaby and Tielemans.

Where is this going wrong? Have we run out of energy? Have we been figured out? Have our players been taken over by league table vertigo?

Something has gone horribly horribly wrong here.

The glib response is that after half a season of being a good team, we realised who were and have turned back into Typical Villa.

But the energy levels are not there, and the movement up front is back to Gerrard levels for some reason.

Well that was your first mistake - feeling joy.

We lost the ability to defend, keep the ball and break with pace.

I'll take Europa League at this stage. Even Conference next season.

Champions League, you're having a laugh...
