There should be a London Tax anyway. London clubs earn more for merchandise and tickets, purely based on location.

So charge them a London tax when they sign a player off you.

Arsenal had RESERVATIONS about Aston Villa's valuation of Morgan Rogers, particularly as Villa were unwilling to lower their asking price.💰❌

This is nothing new. Arsenal encountered the SAME stance during negotiations for Ollie Watkins, and they also admire Ezri Konsa. 👀

However, Aston Villa owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens have remained firm in their position. ✔️😤 #AFC #AVFC

Oh dear, what a pity, never mind!

Morgan Rogers. You were an unknown player in January 2024 when our magnificent club came calling for you. In two and half years you got to play for us in the premier league; You got to qualify for the champions league, twice, and you got to win a major trophy. You also became an England regular with a massive profile.

You had a five year deal with us as we strive to do truly elite level things. You could have led us to many trophies in the coming seasons cementing your place as a legend. Instead you have decided to trade these things for a scummy club built on Russian money who finished 10th last season. This makes you a massive twat.

Once again, the worst thing about this sport is the vacuous fools who play it.

I am really not arsed.

We'll just replace him with someone better.

100m for a player we got for 8m two years ago? That is sexy business.

Bit harsh about the Argentina game comment under the circumstances really.

Nah, he'd have held the ball up for Villa and drawn the odd foul.

Villa wouldn't have thrown three defenders on to protect a lead. Besides, how many times did Kane and Bellingham touch the ball in that second half? You seem to have forgotten who set the goal up as well.

Kane can't run so was fucked in the second half, Bellingham was battling centrally. I thought Rogers could have offered more, he has the strength and technique to get the ball in tight situations and fend fuckers off.

Yeah, he assisted for the goal. £117m worth of player, if that's his main contribution to the game, it's the least he can do.

You're not taking him leaving very well. It's quite amusing really.

Meh, I've expected him to leave for ages. Hope he does well at Chelsea just for you.

I'm currently of the mindset that Alonso will do well at Chelsea and a season of not having any European football will be beneficial. I wouldn't be surprised if they ended the season with a domestic cup.  However, since as a club they're always a bad run away from player-power led chaos and a managerial sacking, that wouldn't be surprising, either.

Agreed. I think Alonso could do well if they give him time ... but I think it is more likely that they will bin him in the New Year when they realise that they are not genuine title contenders.

Rogers is a game changer with great potential - meaning he is still some distance from being a consistently great player. With the clamour from the owners and fans for immediate success and given the number of players with big reputations/egos to manage, I very much doubt Alonso will invest as much time in Rogers as did Emery.

IMO he would make significantly more progress in the next two years if he stayed at the Villa. For the reason that his trajectory in terms of performance is now lower at Chelsea - ignoring the hype associated with playing for a 'big 6' side - I think the fee is a good deal for us, even after the Boro element is paid. He may well have hit his peak valuation.

I won't boo him, though I will certainly join the Holte End in reminding him that he used to play for a big club. UTV

For all his inconsistencies, I nicked this from Twitter. It’s pretty impressive for the short time he’s been with us. So yeh of course fuck him as he joins Chelsea but let’s not pretend we are not losing a superb footballer who with the right coaching and attitude can get better.

I don’t get why when Arsenal said £117m was too much, we didn’t just tell them we have something more in their price range and wheeled out Leon Bailey.

Yes yes, but he didn't hold the ball up in the World Cup semi final.

Ha that made me laugh.

Good player, could have been great. At 51 I should know better. Players move on, players get moved on. The football pyramid can be annoying and I’m sure it is for teams we buy players off.

Big difference for me is that we have a manager I totally trust to get things right with the money. We might just have to be patient for a season and then welcome in another rise of the Villa with a rebuilt north stand welcoming in a glorious 27/28 season.

I suspect that Arsenal are the last club on earth that Emery would want to sell anyone to.
