Well, that's another jaded, tired player coming back from the World Cup who we won't have to worry about.

Close enough, isn't it? (@Sid). It's the most ever paid for an English player. Let's not pretend we've been done on the fee for a very good, but not exceptional, player.

I think he's had a mare going to Chelsea. What are they these days? But that's not my problem.

Thought we would only sell for £130 million?

Our ray of sunshine himself.

Sid thinks a lot of things that turn out not to be true.

Going to Chelsea isn't the smartest move, but as long as we get all that money then that's Rogers problem. Fuck him.

Sigh.... Fuck off football.

People can try and cope all they like, this is fucking shit news.

I was much more disappointed by the Tielemans news. This is a good deal.

Chelsea have agreed a club record £117m deal to sign England midfielder Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa.

The 23-year-old will sign a six-year deal at Stamford Bridge, with an option for a further year.

Rogers will have a medical on Monday after returning from international duty with England at the 2026 World Cup.

The deal would set a new transfer record for an English player, eclipsing the £116m fee Manchester City agreed with Nottingham Forest for another Three Lions midfielder in Elliot Anderson earlier this summer.

Rogers becomes the most expensive signing in Chelsea's history, surpassing the £107m spent on Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez in 2023.

The move comes as new Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso shapes his squad before the new Premier League season.

Rogers, who was previously on the books of Manchester City, joined Villa from Championship side Middlesbrough on 1 February, 2024.

He scored 21 goals in 85 league appearances for Unai Emery's men and was part of the team that won the Europa League last season.

Rogers has made 21 senior England appearances, scoring once, and featured in six games at this summer's World Cup.

Yep, I think it aids us massively with what we need to do over the next couple of seasons to progress.

We don't. 20% of the profit goes to Boro.
