We haven't lost an FA Cup replay at Villa Park since 1976. That was to Southampton in R3, they went on to win the Cup that season.
Incredibly you then have to go back to 1932 to find the previous home replay defeat, to Portsmouth in R4.
I remember that, I have a memory that Ron brought Charlie Aitken on as a sub, which seemed strange.
Also went on a coach to Southampton for the 1st leg, coaches were not allowed into town too early before the game.
The coach driver an old curmudgeon with a flat cap and stone deaf resisted all exultations to put his foot down and get us there.
I'd forgotten that, I remember now he got us lost in Southampton and had to ask locals for directions to the ground. We really thought we'd done the hard bit, drawing at their place ......

I was there as well. I think Saints equalised in the last minute as well. It was their year.

It needs to be reasonably priced, given there's only 8 days until the game & it's likely to be televised. If they price it wrong it'll be half empty.

Yep get the pricing wrong and it will be another sub 25k just like that Everton game when they refused to release the official attendance figure for weeks .

I wonder how much they'll rinse charge us for the Chelsea replay. My guess is £38 on the Lower Holte.
Hopefully they’ll learn from the Everton league cup game, i was one of the few mugs that forked out.

Me too. Kids were miserable as sin on the way home. I felt bad about what I’d inflicted on them.

Random ask, but is there any jeopardy in not going to this from a booking history point of view? I mean if we win and get a home draw in the quarters then as a ST holder I’ll be offered my seat? I may be forced to miss this because of work…but worried they may base future ticket criterias on home cup tickets…wishful thinking I know…

Good question. I assume FA Cup attendees would have priority, then ST holders

You will always be given first refusal on your seat at home cup ties.

Unless your seat is allocated to away fans.

Overlooked that one. Being in the Holte that doesn’t affect me but for those that it does, when re-allocated do you have to pay the price of a North Stand ticket or the price of wherever you end up? Seems a bit unfair if it’s more.

I’d bet they won’t….my guess will be they’ll price it high, if it’s 2/3rds full it’ll support a narrative on why the North was cancelled.

Hope to be pleasantly surprised :-)
