I can see Saudi and Qatari teams joining this Super League thing too.

They might have lots of money to chuck around, but absolutely nobody is watching it.

Watching what? Seriously, I'd actually forgotten all about it.

Another desperate grab at financial parity with the EPL by 2 clubs in particular. It didn’t happen a few years back and it won’t happen now.

The Premier League is the richest competition in the world and is miles more popular than the Champions League. Why would they want to leave that?

It is at the moment. Imagine a rival body materialising from today’s judgement. Say LIV football to go with their golf. Billions in prize money to tempt them away from the EPL.  Some would resist at first but I would expect MCFC, NUFC along with & PSG would be front and centre and happy to sell their fans out. Once others see the money pouring in, it wouldn’t be long before the sheep follow. Chelsea, MUFC, Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool in that order.

I wouldn't bank on it to be honest.  Like others have said, can definitely see the Saudis getting involved and the figures floating around being astronomical and heads being turned.

Makes no differencetp English clubs due to 3 reasons:
1. Fans don't like it.
2. Premier League Charter put in place after the last ESL insurrection.
3. The  new Independent Regulator.
The Premier League Charter won't be enforceable in a court of law

It won't need to be, the PL can decide who can and can not play in their league.
and they can't stop teams from leaving it either

That’s not the point and never was.

The point was they wanted to be in a super league AND the Premier league.
but thats exactly where this is headed

because without the "sky6" the EPL is nothing . Therefore they will ultimately call the shots

The thing is football is a team game followed by team supporters.  Golf is about individuals and there is no loyalty.  The last attempt was seen off because of a fan backlash encouraging government to get involved and let’s face it that will happen again, even more so if Saudis are involved. Never underestimate the humble fan doused in generations of history…..

The issue with that sometimes is that football is too tribal, particularly in this country. Fans can be ridiculously quick to defend their own team whereas if the teams' fans came together, we'd get a lot more done. Fulham have been protesting their ticket prices this season and I think it was the Manchester United fans singing "what the effing hell is that?" instead of any solidarity. And that could have been any two teams. I won't hang my hat on football fans stopping this stuff

They were astronomical last time and it didn’t work. I’m not surprised it’s come about again as football sold its soul years ago. What I am confident in is that the reaction from football supporters from every club in the football pyramid will be the same. It threatens the very essence of the game and that’s why it won’t happen. If I’m wrong then it’ll be the beginning of the end for the game as we know it.

They will when they are playing Real Madrid or Barcelona. And the Saudis will want in regardless.

Way to support your own team. Are you going to change your username to WithoutTheSky6WeAreNothingTim? You do realise it only takes 13 of the other clubs to vote against them for them to be kicked out. So they are two teams short. And if your saw the reactions from every other club at the time against the attempted splitters, I doubt any would vote for them.

New shirt sponsor incoming according to Jacob Tanswell (The Athletic Villa correspondent) and Dan Bardell* on the 1874 podcast. Apparently they’re both very excited about it, but can’t reveal. Will listen later.

*He’s a Villa podcaster.
