On the Great Barr massive thing.  Our first house was on Fowlmere Road purchased in February 1975 five months before we got married.  We moved in in early August after getting back from honeymoon.

We had friends that purchased their house in Booths Farm Road at the same time and neither of us had much in the way of furniture so we hired a van, split the costs and we moved into our respective houses the same weekend.

This particular weekend the body of a young girl, about eight if memory serves, was found in Turnberry park.  A house to house was conducted by the police and I was interviewed by two detectives, one who did all the talking and his mate who, was a shifty looking fucker who said nothing but was continuously looking around.  Anyway I explained all my whereabouts for that weekend and they went away.

A couple of days later they came back and I nearly shit myself.  They asked me more questions like van hire company, time of collection and drop off etc.  When they'd finished they told me that they'd been around and interviewed my mate and we're back to see if our stories tallied, they did, thankfully.  I never heard from them again but it was a scary experience.

I don't know if anyone was arrested for the death of that poor child but I've never forgotten her.

No more from me about Great Barr.  Apologies for hijacking the thread.

I was coming on here to share this. It's perhaps the best take and analysis I've seen of us under Emery. I loved the pass maps, made our fabled line to be so high that it's gone past the halfway line and is now 5 yards inside the opposition half!

I'm watching the extended highlights now after watching that, and it's adding to the enjoyment. I don't think I possess a sufficient number of pairs of eyes to watch us properly.

Here’s an interesting stat I saw online yesterday, wish I could remember where. Of the outfield players who started the game for us against Man City, the only one who DIDN’T create a chance was Torres.  I’m not sure what they call “total football” these days, but that’s total football.

Torres did nearly score himself though with a good shot from inside the box superbly saved by their keeper, yes total football.
