i did say HOME game .

Mind you that Stoke game after Moscow was a big one too

I know it's the law that whenever anyone mentions that Stoke match, we all talk about how fucking awful it felt, but even now years later, I can remember walking back to the Serpentine car park feeling as sick as a fucking parrot.

Agreed, that for me was the most pivotal (negative) moment in recentish years.

I can't remember, but I bet it was fucking brilliant on here the following few days after, mind.

Felt like a Cov at home moment in 93. Not the absolute end of hope but the beginning of the end.

In saying that, even if we had seen out that game against Stoke and gone eight points clear, I still reckon we'd have gobbed it down the home straight.

No Laursen, and Man Citeh, Liverpool and Man U away all still to play. Plus Tottenham and Everton at home.

The first leg European Cup semi final v Anderlecht in 1982 was fairly important.

That game is why I could never fully take to Glenn Whelan. The Stoke game, obviously, not Anderlecht.

I can't remember either, but I think that you and I possibly weren't that complimentary about Mr O'Neill.

Sadly, a year before this version of the website came into being it seems.

don't watch many opposition pressers but Pep was very prickly with his answers and squirming in his seat today. Obviously shitting it  :D
He said akanki, stones and ake can play in the rodri role. What I would say is are those guys as good as fouling without picking up bookings as Rhodri? who is the dirtiest player (under the radar fouls and niggles) I've seen.  That famous liverpool match in the 70s was a night game in december wasn't it? I'm buzzing for this one!

But he paid back by missing the pen against Preston.

Based on how our season has gone so far we'll probably walk these next two games and then go to Brentford and get spanked.
Yes that would be classic Villa

I’d absolutely take that.

Possibly the biggest home game since Ipswich 1981

Nah, Bradford in '88 and the Albion play off semi were bigger in different ways, but also the Man Utd/Arsenal double header at Christmas '89 when I think we were more seriously in the title race.

Agree with you on all those games Lee, all felt and were massive.

I’m more nervous about tomorrow now as it feels we can get something. I know Rodri is very important and thats a plus, i don’t actually think Grealish being out makes that much difference he’s played that little, can’t see him being there next season. However, as much as i dislike what they’ve become, they have some team, Haaland, Foden, Silva, Doku (bound to be fit), Walker, Dias etc etc. I think Arsenal are more beatable on Saturday.
But you never know, as others have said start fast like against  Brighton and West Ham, don’t give away an early goal…..its the hope that kills and all that.

It's a massive exaggeration to compare tomorrow to a 1981 game. Three points would be amazing but that's all it would be. There's such a long way to go.

When the fixtures came out for the season I don't think any of us could have imagined we'd be going into Man City in December only 1 point behind them. (And it be at the top of the table, not them getting a points deduction)
