That was New Year's Day 1996 in a 2-0 win.

Wright's goal when we scored 5 was at Spurs in 2000.

We scored 4 that day at Spurs, the 5 game was 1992.

We also won there 4-0 on Valentine’s Day 2000. Memorable for me as I was in agony in A&E with what turned out to be a hernia, the stitches from my appendectomy a few months earlier becoming stuck in my stomach wall ( an adhesion). Only found out the result in the paper the next day.

Was that the Gazza Boateng game, mate? One of my first ever non Midlands away days.

Cold. Was up there a few years later when I think we won 5-2.

The Gazza broken arm on Boatengs head was def Valentines Day…remember having to book a meal around finding a bar in Nottm to watch that match :-)

Tommy Johnsons goal was class too. About 20 plus passes. Happy New Middlesbrough.

I was there for the 5-2 win in 2003, our only away win that season. I think there was about 300 of us there that night, no problem getting an away ticket in them days!!

Not sure if this point has already been made, but Boro are more than likely to have a league cup semi final to think about in January. They play Port Vale in the QF in a few weeks.

I remember watching the 2-0 with my dad at the King Edward on Lichfield Road with a bluenose he was acquainted with who, with about 20 minutes to go, yelled "STOP TOYING WITH THEM, BORO!" at the screen.

Result of the match or the result of the medical examination?

Was that our only away win that year? Wow. You're right though, it was a bit sparse in the away end.

I think it was also around Valentine's Day as I remember getting shit from my girlfriend who wanted to go away to Paris or something along those lines, but I chose to go and see the Villa instead.

Compared to the football Villa serve up under Unai, it looks like we were playing a different sport back then:
