We also seem to get an awful lot of corners but hardly ever look like scoring from them.
And free kicks. It's definitely an area we can improve on. The last goal scored directly from a free kick I can recall was Lucas Digne ages ago. Now watch JWP slam one in on Sunday just to ram home the point.

Dougie scored one against spurs 3rd last game of last season, so not as far back as it seems
Dougie is the player I hoped would be our expert deadball free kick taker but despite his big improvement as a player under Emery he hasn't really been the threat I was hoping he would be at free kicks. Probably a bit of stereotyping on my part due to him being Brazilian.

From these corners and free kicks Diego Carlos has  missed several chances with his head. He manages to get a chance each game and is a threat but he hasn't scored when he should have.
I think he's due one.
It 'll come soon.

That was ridiculously poor goalkeeping though. Any decent keeper would have saved that

We have a rubbish record against these - hopefully we can buck that trend here.

and

I'm with you - live just outside Chelmsford so mostly West Ham.  Was bad enough after them being shut all season not only couldn't we beat them but they also won a cup after being the worst side

I reckon in terms of Premier League matches (i know i know) that we have drew more times against West Ham than any other team.

I've checked and its 21 times. Everton is 19.

So 3-0 Villa.

My first ever game was 0-0 v West Ham in March 1997. Can't remember anything about the game. Had a look at a brief match report and seems Frank Lampard Jr broke his leg, was only 18 at the time.

We've beaten them twice in the last decade and since coming back up it's just 3 draws from 8 games.

It's quite odd how it works with certain teams as we generally had a pretty good record v Moyes when he was Everton manager, think he only won twice at VP in his 11 year spell there, already won more than that in his West Ham spell.

We need to get control of midfield for this. Can't say I'm looking forward to Antonio constantly backing into Pau, would be very surprised if we kept a clean sheet in this.

2-2. Might not be enough for some but we do have Luton at home the weekend after.

Referee: David Coote. VAR: Chris Kavanagh.
Only officiated 2 of our matches last season
Was the official last season v West Ham in 1-0 loss at home.
And also final game of season v Brighton.
Can't say he's a top ref.

Coote given 2 penalties in 2 games from 4 this season.

I think he is busy organising the Hendo appreciation society.

I will never, ever understand why that two-faced shit gets a hero's welcome every time he slithers back on here.

After an international  break anything could happen. I expect a draw.

On here he's all smiles, on three says what he really thinks of us. What's so good about that?

It’s the same mentality as wanting Greasy back, the modern day equivalent of cap doffing.
