Bloody hell, that KUMB forum is hilarious. I'd even say it rivals Molineux mix in terms of delusions of grandeur.
I really don't think they're as delusional as Wolves but some of them have an odd view of our feelings towards them. I don't like them I don't dislike them. They're just there which is how I'd assume they'd see us. One of them said "I hate villa and villa fans were desperate for us to lose in the conference cup final" Really? I remember being in the pub and the game was on with no sound. Mainly villa in that pub and most people were busy enjoying their evening and the football fans amongst us were watching with mild interest. When they picked up the trophy the only comments I heard were "fair play to em" I don't know of any villa fan who has strong feelings either way about West Ham. Someone on there used the boring old "yeah well birmingham is a shithole" lazy line. Their heartland is Romford, Ilford, Dagenham and Harlow. There's really no room to criticise anywhere else if you live in those desperate places.
Anyway more importantly it will be 3-1 to the mighty Aston Villa.

half of them don't even live in those areas anymore they all live in small villages like mine, sit around in the local village pubs raising their voices arguing who is the most East End out of them all and they all knew the Krays and went to Violet's funeral apparently....

like you Edge I neither like or dislike them....a non entity to me.

Aside from jokey 'kit stealers' references, I too have never met a Villa fan remotely interested in West Ham Utd.  Weird.

There was a little spell back in the mid to late 70s where we would put 3 or 4 past them without much bother.  I would welcome a return to something like that.

I think we'll still win as Emery will have a cunning plan for their demise. 2-1

Ma Krays funeral must've been bigger than the Queen's. About 2 million mourners claim to have been there. Bit like Liverpool and the Beatles. According to the amount of Scousers who claim to have been in the same class as John, Paul, George and Ringo the classrooms must've all been the size of the Albert Hall.

At least they'd know how many holes it takes to fill it.

Boxing day 1978* there was around 51,000 at Villa Park for the Gray/Deehan show. A fabulous performance from the lads and we ran out 4-1 winners. Brilliant day.
*some stats might be wrong as I was still three sheets to the wind after Christmas day

Going man for man there is only Bowen that i would actually have in our starting X1 - in fact in the Bailey position he would be bloody fantastic

Yes, West Ham were always welcome opposition in the 70s and 80s - they only beat us once in a league game. The media seemed to love them, but Bonds, Lampard, Martin, Devonshire, Brooking, Cottee etc often seemed a soft touch.

That FA Cup quarter-final though and Ray effin' Stewart. Aside from that, I don't really mind West Ham.

No feelings for them either way.  Mostly forget they even exist except for when we play them.

Us 3-0 Them.

It's strange the things you remember. We had taken my mother-in-law for a train trip to Blackpool that day and I didn't manage to find out the score until we got back as far as Crewe station. I was very upset. It's quite right that usually that team was a pushover and I don't think players like Bonds, Lampard senior, Martin, Stewart etc. deserved the "academy of football" sobriquet. And Blackpool wasn't much fun either.

Wasn't the game live on TV, or am I misremembering? If so, it's probably the first time I saw Villa game live on the telly. :(

My Dad and his brother (both Blues) and my uncle / their brother in law (Liverpool) took 14 year old me to that and we stood on the Witton in awe of the balloon display and the Villa that day. All of them gone now I'd love a repeat on Sunday for old times sake.
