What I’m going to say now will not go down well and people will think I’ve gone a bit mad (well, you know more than usual)

The last time I visited Molineux was in the 1980s and I was pleasantly surprised by Wolverhampton yesterday,
not the rundown shit hole I expected, i’m not talking about the stadium that’s like higgledy house but the actual place/area itself
So there you go, I’ve said it
The transformational powers of a warm sunny day perhaps

My 2 teenage kids were at one end of the stand, and I was at the other ( long story)

Anyway, watching match of the day last night when we scored the cameras panned to their section of the crowd celebrating
There is my son Albert up on his chair giving the wanker sign to the Wolves lot

I don’t know whether to feel proud or ashamed

There was no one who had a really bad game yesterday. We look a very good team in the making and every player is comfortable in possession. With our injuries and having only played 2 days before we still looked the better team.
The referee ruined the game and allowed them to get away with foul after foul and their falling over for 5 minutes tactics. I went thinking they weren’t that bad a side but they with their stone   age approach they are in big trouble.
Poor defending for their goal as we had 2 marking 1 but we responded well.
16 points from 8 games is a great start and considering the injuries we have then it’s even better than that.

Now the Civic has reopened there is a reason to visit the city centre again - but from my experience, it's a pretty bleak experience with only one or two decent pubs. Not a reflection on Wolverhampton, there are lots of towns like this across the UK.

Finally seen the highlights (didn’t the pen shout in the game). Very obvious penalty.

Nobody loves by Tyrone more than me, and I've been critical of Torres especially at Anfield but we've found ourselves struggling down the left flank against Wolves in every game there since we came up.

Neto is particularly rapid and skillful and bang in form, he'd do that to almost anyone one on one.
Perhaps I should be clearer.  He may have beaten Ty one way or another, but I don't think he'd have been able to run right around the outside of him like that, Ty is just too quick and strong.  I was replying to a reference about Torres' pace, which I do think is an issue.

I know what you're saying but my point was I don't think it's cut and dried that the same thing wouldn't have happened. The key was to not let that situation happen, Neto running directly at our centre halves, which we'd pretty much managed to do but for Doug having a brain fart and leaving us exposed.

Luiz should be a long way down the list of blame for that goal. He was caught in possession but it was on the opposite wing and half way into their side of pitch. Torres was dragged out to the left but Digne covered inside of him and Konsa was on their only forward. The way Torres was beaten in our box was piss poor, maybe Digne should have been closer and no way Konsa, watching all this develop, should have let their forward run across him to score at near post. Fine finish, mind.

Neto nearly did same to Carlos not long after only for Kamara to bail him out. Co commentator thought it was a penalty but I thought Kamara was strong when he needed to be. Can't have two centre backs in a three with tree stumps for legs when they have to turn.

I can't agree with that, it wasn't like Doug was under huge pressure in a difficult position, we were well on the attack and it was extremely sloppy just when we couldn't afford it.

And Emery had warned them that Wolves are very good with transitions.

Wolverhampton is fine by me. Had some  great nights there before and after Civic gigs and there's plenty of decent pubs if you know where to look. My lad is in his 2nd year at Uni there and really enjoying it.

Yep I love Dougie,
he’s probably my favourite player but you can’t lose possession cheaply like that, it was a mistake by him that caused that goal and there’s no getting away from that

Yeah, I had a mate who lived in Willenhall and we used to go out in Wolverhampton quite a bit.  It was a good night out, especially the Cheeky Monkey and Blast Off nights at the Civic.  That’s going back about 20 years now though, so no idea what it’s like now.

The theatre is nice there as well.

Dougie is an incredible player, a class act and likewise my favourite player. But he messed up, we was in a comfortable position, players around and he gave it away to easy. It put us on the back foot and gave them an opportunity to catch us on the break.

Wolverhampton was okay twenty years ago when it got its act together before becoming Wolverhampton again. It's still got some good pubs and last Friday it was the rock'n'roll capital of the world.
