I watched it back in full last night (IPTV catch-up).

There's no doubt we rode our luck a bit - we still give up far too many chances and tbh the game could have gone either way.  Fortunately, Chelsea's finishing was woeful and Martinez made some excellent saves (as did Sanchez of course).

But an excellent result and there were some very good performances - Konsa, Cash, Kamara & Luiz all stood out.  I don't think I realised quite how fast Cash his, one of his recovery tackles was superb and he came from miles away.

That 'Midlands derby' bollocks always really pissed me off too, like were Norwich and Ipswich or something, and it felt like a deliberate act to undermine any significance in the fixture or the city itself.

The regularity with which we get referred to as a 'Midlands club' rather than a Birmingham one in general really fucks me off, too.

Lovely win against bottom half cannon fodder,  Brighton will be a much bigger test.

I did say Watkins would score in the pre match thread too 😀

I'd had a few too many last night, and on seeing the lineup, threw a tantrum and refused to watch the game..
What didn't you like about the line-up?  I'd say that's probably our strongest team with the current injuries and Ramsey still working up his fitness.

Who the fuck is this woman commentator on our game (just watching the replay)?

Awful.

Jacqui Oatley - normally a good commentator but she’s a raving Wolves fan so…
She seemed to start off very pro-Chelsea but tbf I thought she improved during the game and was pretty complimentary about us.  I've heard worse.

Hopefully we are finally getting it together defensively.

Lovely to beat those classless twonks. The New England Patriots of the Premier League.

My knowledge of American "football" couldn't be seen under a electron microscope, so I have to ask what is up with them? They're Peter Griffin's team and I guess Tom Brady played for them, as he appears in the cartoon...?

See above, absolutely embarassing their midfield.

About halfway through where Luiz makes Mudryk and Caicedo (£200m combined) look like a pair of puppies chasing a balloon is glorious.

If our "double-pivot" (or whatever it's called this week) continues to perform at the level it has been, you have to wonder how long it will be until we get a silly offer for one or other of them.  Hopefully we'll be brave enough to say no as and when the time comes!

Depends on what team offers but you'd think any sensible person would have crossed Chelsea and Man U off their list of potential "big moves" at this point, which would at least lower the number of clubs that might be tempting.

You're right Smithy.  I think Luiz is £100m+ already and he'd be all FFP profit.  Kamara may be a bit too inconsistent but is still young - at his best he's also excellent.

Thankfully Chelsea are touring the country with a play warning young players of the peril of jumping ship to a bunch of jokers throwing cash at you.

Ha!  Great stuff Lee.  They've been doing it for years, Barkley was the lead a few years ago.
