Our coach gaffer does a tidy bit of research for each away pub usually a good few miles from the ground and, contacts them to make sure we're welcome.

Gets us away from the 'cracking pub, full of Villa, but 10 deep at the bar' mob and on occasion, we've even got some free sarnies.

My mate put me off scampi fries when he said they reminded him of his ex wife. Never touched them since

I used to like them until I read this 😂

Isn’t that just for Scotland? Our buses don’t tend to do pub stops, only coaches.
Our buses never get there two hours early either.
It saying that these guidelines have been historically been in place in England, but wonder if these have been implemented by local police

I knew about the can't stop within 10 miles of the ground  rule but that's about it.

Spurs away last year, coach me and my lad booked on, along with a lot of other coaches stopped at the spoons in Waltham Cross for about 3 hours, don’t think thats anywhere near 10 miles.
Liverpool away last May, the Spoons near the Everton ground.

Official Villa coaches don't do pub stops and don't allow alcohol on the coaches.
That suits me.
We were parked up opposite The Arkells (official parking spot) on Sunday about hour and three quarters before kick off...plenty of time for a few beers in there, or another boozer close by, or a stroll through the park to the ground and a few beers in there. I've done all of those in recent years, never a problem.
Didn't have Scampi Fries though, and after wince's post, don't think I will be any time soon!

I used to be able to drive a coach (probably still could but not legally allowed to) and once took a bus load of Wigan rugby fans down to Wembley for a Challenge Cup final. One of the worst experiences of my life, and one of the things that spurred me on to do something a bit more worthwhile with my life.

Bacon Fries.

They're very economical. You only need to eat one, and you can taste it for the rest of the day.

Sacmpi Fries yes, Bacon Fries an acceptable second, but those Cheese Moments were an absolute abomination.

Only on here can a thread about away games and drinking become a focus group for scampi fries and where best to buy them. Brilliant.

Ps Twiglets trump them all day every day.
