They dropped a real clanger last night both off & on the pitch .

Im a season ticket holder  & I didn't go lastnight due to price + the cost of the upcoming 3 euro home games.
Upto last night I was pretty certain of going the euro games , now due to our lack of commitment to the League Cup I'm questioning their commitment to the euro games & whether not to bother with those too.

I can't be the only one thinking the same currently .

Someone on Twitter has said the ticket office told him the attendance was 23,851 last night.

13k available in Villa seats, unsold dead space in North stand and completely empty corporate spaces - is it possible that's right and it was really that low?  Jfc.  Someone should lose their job for this.

Someone said in the build up that minus the north stand the capacity is about 35,000. I counted just under 13,000 tickets still available just before kickoff. Which would be around 22/23k attendance,  or at least tickets sold. Whether everyone showed up or not is another matter.

If we go with 35k for Villa fans when the North is taken out. 13k unsold takes us to 22k. Then deduct corporate, TV, boxes, posh seats etc which won't show on the normal tickets for sale page, I have no idea of the exact number but if we go 2500 then that takes us to 19500. Add on the Everton fans in the North and you're at approx 24k.

It would be the lowest gate since Jan 2018 when we played Peterborough in the cup (and lost).

Burnley at home if we had beat Everton.

The way the draw has opened up, with Citeh out, there was a good chance of winning this!

Always the fucking way mate.

In '92 we'd have been in the semis with Norwich, Sunderland and Portsmouth, but managed to get knocked out by the worst Liverpool team in decades.

(3rd Division) Bradford in the semis, Swansea in the final - 2013.
Still annoys me.

2004 was similar. Lost a semi final to Bolton. Would’ve had Middlesbrough in the final.

It may have been mentioned but I read Newcastle charged £15 and had half price food and drinks - result was a storming atmosphere and a win.  And they probably took a lot more money than us too.

That’s depressing, what could have, should have been.  It’s like there needs to be a common sense buffer somewhere.

It only occurs to me now, of late our players aren’t used to not having a full Villa Park, even though eg the crowd for Palace seemed really quiet until the late crescendo.

So many cock ups, and such a shame when so much going right.

Yes, it was approximately "Understandably shite and lamentable, given the attitude of the football club™ to the pricing of this fixture which comes between PL and European games too."
