Was in Italy in September.
Asked a couple of locals if he was any good.
One shrugged.
The other shuck his head.

Tony dude, I'm no grammar wanker but 'shuck'?

did anyone else read that in a bouncy poetic form?

I expected the next line to be "He just smiled and gave me a bit of his sandwich".

I hope you haven't been mishearing that lyric for the last 40 years! It's "He just smiled and gave me a Vegemite sandwich."

I might have heard it as "bite of his sandwich". I dunno.

I think that's what Adam and Joe used to talk about a lot, an 'eggcorn'

EDIT and is why, 20 years later, every time I walk past Robert Dyas, I have to sing its name to the Amadeus tune.

Wish he was as good as that Arsenal fella, Oystergard.

I always thought it was a "bite of his sandwich" as well. However, when it comes to learning I'm pretty much as visually-dominant as it's possible to be i.e. I'm rubbish when it comes to song lyrics, and never pick up foreign words or phrases from conversation, TV etc.

To offset Tony I asked (after his post) in the teams chat with our offices in Milan and Turin and the 4 guys replied all ended up pretty similar in that they expected him to do better and that he hasn't looked right since the gambling thing from what they've seen.

As a side note they think Watkins, Luiz and Bailey are superb and that we are a massive threat to the top 4 and that we're one of the best teams to watch in the league right now.

Sounds like an online office vox pop. I wonder what they call them in Italy.

It's the 50/50's for me. I can deal with a good technical player out of form or taking time to get used to a new League. A big bloke like him should not be losing out on almost every 50/50 though, that's worrying.

I never expected him to be Gianfranco Zola but I did get a bit excited at the time and thought he would have offered more than he has so far

Heís trying maybe to hard but i donít think heís adjusted to the prem yet and we donít have the time to find out
Heís not the worst player weíve ever had on loan ie Drinkwater/Barkley/that other fella who sank without trace but heís not improving either which is my biggest worry about him to be honest

Iíve gone from believing heís going to bag a worldie and do a Tardelli to thinking if he does score it will be a deflected goal of his arse ( which Iíd still take) and a celebration worse than a spurs one

I agree that he's not been as bad as Drinkwater, but  Barkley  had a couple of decent games to be fair.

Yes he did well early on, the wins against Liverpool, Leicester and Arsenal especially. After that, not so much.

He's not as crispbag-esque as Cleverley, i.e he does get on the ball, Cleverley used to float about doing very little, but he seems to be getting worse.

edit: Just looked at Cleverley's stats for us P:31 and scored 3 times, 3 games in a row. In a 3-2 defeat to Man City, in a 3-2 win against Everton and a 1-0 win against West Ham.
So i take it all back, he is worse than Cleverley. Sorry Tom.

For stats fans, Enzo Fernandez's goals for Chelsea at the weekend mean that Zaniolo is now the player* who has taken the most shots in the league this season without scoring, with 18.

*technically joint with Pedro Porro and Beto.

Zaniolo's a waste of space is what he said

I just called to ask about  Zaniolo
I just called to see how much you care
I just called to ask about Zaniolo
And I mean it from the bottom of my heart.

Unfortunately he's offering cards and little else.
Is that an Irony ?
