Be interesting to see what happens when everybody is fit next season. I know that "everybody fit" at Villa is like asking for a side of unicorn tears with your rocking horse shit, but with Ollie nailed on as main striker, we'll then have Bailey, Diaby, Buendia, Rogers, Duran, Tielemans and Ramsey fighting it out for the attacking spots, which strikes me as not the worst spot to be in.

Hopefully we are playing 50+ games again next season. If we can see off some of the real fringe players and buy 2 or 3 really excellent first team or squad upgrades then we can challenge again on multiple fronts. Now that we have arrived at the CL we cannot make it a one season thing. At the very worst we need to be Europa or better every season from now on.

And could the the 5th CL spot change if English clubs do better next year than Italian or German clubs in Europe?

Diaby to me at the moment comes across as a player trying too hard if that makes sense? That over hit pass to Duran on Monday had the Sunday morning Oaklands Rec look about it! Could be something to do with the pressure of his transfer fee, playing in the premier league etc.
Bailey had a similar vibe about his play last season and boy that turned out all good so i'm sure Diaby will be a better player next season.

Incredibly mixed bag season  for the record signing. Let's hope he sorts himself out next season or we recycle the money and go again (Nico Williams options). .

Incredibly mixed bag, but similar number of goal involvements as Nico Williams in the league to date this season - in what is his first season in a new league.

As someone who wasn’t as impressed as many at the start of the season, I felt that was a performance full of promise the other night. He was a constant threat. I think he’ll do really well next season.

It's quite conceivable that he’s put himself under too much pressure this season and has tried too hard. Hopefully that clarity of thought, calmness, will come next season when he’s not the “big signing” and he’s had a full preseason

Yes, I agree.

He's had some stinkers, but his figures are not at all those of a poor player. He'll be much better next season.

I think his first season has gone like I expected it to. Flashes of brilliance and games where he looked mediocre, but overall signs that there is a really good player there. A typical settling in season really.

He has that quick turn, acceleration and an eye for a pass or goal. Important to our style of play.

With our injury list, Diaby's role in the team changed more than most players this season. Shifted around left, right and center and probably made it more difficult for him to settle in.

Next season, with help on the injury front, I hope to see Diaby in a more settled role and think he is capable of producing the goods.

With Diaby up to speed and Buendia back we are going to have some great options  .
