He had no impact last night but it was playing in front of a beaten midfield and our front four, Bailey excepted, were all poor. I'd excuse the sub getting subbed malarkey, it's happened to Bailey and Rogers already this season and both came back stronger after it. If Diaby is playing in a front two then his back to goal has to play has to improve an awful lot. It can't be always like it was v Bournemouth with acres of space to run into.

Using Antony is a fine comparsion, why shouldn't it be? Maybe not agreeing with the comparison doesn't suit the argument. Same with Sancho. I'd also like to see Diaby's stats alongside Doku's as well. They can't be far off being similar

As you can see above, I also used Trossard, Martinelli and Johnson as guides this season of players in similar positions. But haven't you also been having ago about Watkins all season about his touch being poor, play breaking down when it gets to him etc. I wasn't sure if that was just a skit you were doing.

I've been highlighting Watkins poor technique for ages, way beyond this season as it was his biggest weakness. Ignoring last night which I believe/hope was a one-off, he's a player that has really developed from serious coaching. Watkins biggest strength has always been his positioning, it comes natural to him and he's always going to have opportunities to score.

Maybe that's what Diaby needs, together with maybe an extra few hours in the gym. I don't think his size is even his biggest weakness, you only have to look at Sterling to see how to make it work when combined with speed. Plus I'd argue Diaby has better technique than Sterling. Unless you're MON you don't spend that amount of money and leave the player to get on with it. There is hope.

As for Trossard, Martinelli and Johnson I can't really comment as I don't watch Arsenal but I do recall Johnson running riot at Villa Park and thinking I can see why we were interested. A quick look at his stats and it's 5 goals, 7 assists from 26 games. Again, I don't see enough of his games to comment further other than he looks a natural footballer and at 22 a decent addition by Spurs.

So if a player comes in and has less then 10 goals in the league, we have to fuck them off at the first opportunity because they are crap. Gotcha.

Yeah, thanks for taking no notice whatsoever of the discussion or points made, a really valuable contribution.

Give yourself a big pat on the back.

😂

It seems Diaby is one of those along with others like Mcginn, Watkins, Emery, Ty and Dean Smith who if you say anything even slightly negative, people can't seem to handle it.

They end up sounding snippy, oversensitive and sycophantic

Diaby was shit yesterday.

I'm sure he'll be fine, and I look forward to a brilliant second season.

I'm not arguing whether or not he was shit yesterday, just people stating he should have a lot more then 13 goal contributions because he is with better players then Bailey was when he first started, and because of that we should see about selling him.

Even with his goal contributions, I think it's fair to say he has looked pretty poor quite often, it's just what my eyes are telling me. I also would have sold Bailey though 🤷‍♂️ but it's hard to see such a turnaround happening often. He'll get another season to prove himself.

And so he should, he's been a decent part of a top four team who have made a European Semi Final. We can't have that many poor players and the manager can't make that many mistakes and we can't unprofessionaly mishandle that many game situations.

We're a bloody good team and the players have played fantastically without using injuries or scheduling as any excuse.

Sorry, but all of that is just rubbish and adding  Dean Smith and a bloke who's scored 19 goals from open play it is just weird and, well a bit snippy.

I must admit I don’t see what it is that made us pay £50m for Diaby, his first touch is crap. However I said exactly the same about Bailey last year 😂

At times he looks like a 100m sprinter having a go at football. Crap first touch, a catalogue of air shots etc .
I'd give him another season unless the Saudis come back with something outrageous .

I didn't realise Diaby is only 24. That's still pretty young to up sticks and move your life to a whole new country, and adapt to a new league. He's been a bit disappointing, there's no hiding from that, but I feel a bit better about him realising how young he is.

For the second time. His first two years in Germany were less productive for Leverkusen than this one has been for us.

He's been disappointing for a £50m player.  But he started well and there have been enough decent moments to hope he will come good with a bit more time.  There are enough examples of players who took a while to settle into PL football to make it far too early to make a final judgment now.

I'm not sure there's much more you can say at this point, non of us have a crystal ball.

If we were offered £40-50m I guess it might be worth considering cutting our losses.  But we won't be, so it's a non point.
