Well that's another team that can't catch us now.

The 'Man Utd late Champions League surge' talk has gone strangely quiet on Talksport and Sky as well.

It's a fucking shoo-in for them. There is nothing to discuss.

Iíve gone back in time to the Brentford post-match thread havenít I?

Surprising when you think he's only 33, relatively young for a keeper.

Even they complain about media bias. Seriously though, it's the first time I have checked their forum and the average level of delusion is insane. They really believe they have a squad that is much better than all the other top 6 rivals. I'd hardly take any of their players.

While he's not well-liked, you'd imagine a combined Villa - Man Utd XI would probably be us, plus Fernandes.

Maybe Dalot for Metty Cesh.

Yes he is an arse, but Fernandes, like palmer at Chelsea, has ensured they have finished higher in recent seasons then they actually deserved.

Yeah, he is the only one though I would definitively take. I'm not the biggest Cash fan, so maybe Dalot. So at the very best it's 2 of theirs in a mixed 11. As Paul says, for the amount they have spent it is really piss poor.

To play devil's advocate though, there are clearly very good players there that would probably benefit from a better atmosphere and better coaching. Rashford scored 30+ goals last season - I wouldn't pick him to play over Bailey on Saturday, but there's quite clearly a very good player there who could excel somewhere else or with a different setup.

And he's probably not the only one, the Villa team that was pumped by Fulham leading to Gerrard getting sacked included Konsa, McGinn, Luiz, Watkins, Bailey and Ramsey. I'd bet that there are quite a few players in that Man Utd squad who are putting in their Villa-performances-under-Gerrard at the moment.

Wasn't he supposedly on something like 350k a week? If he's after that kind of money i'm not surprised there's been a lack of takers.

Half the Manure team are on that aren't they. It is why I can't see any big rebuild happening soon because until those players are out of contract like De Gea, who will take them off their hands. (Saudis are the only ones). They are covering most of the wages for Sancho still. The only other option would be to take a big hit on the selling fee for the other club to use on wages.

That's fair.

Hopefully Everton win tonight, followed by further loses for Liverpool...so nowt to play for when they come to VP.

We need them to have something to play for when they play Spurs.

I would also quite like Everton to be relegated.

Both good points.

I'd take Fernandes off their hands, but only so I could stick him in his very own bomb squad so the cheating red bastard doesn't have to play against us twice a year.

Penalty Everton.

Could be ruled out for offside in build up
