I'll support any team who can help us out by winning, that's why I watched last night, couldn't lose really whatever the result there was joy to be had somewhere.

I'd support the Rags if it meant we'd prosper and that's even more delicious when you think how it would twist them up.

Does not include redfilth in my world - sorry

Always supported them over the Rags. I go in my local and support Sangwell when they play Small Heath, it proper confuses their idiot fans. The sensible ones (I know, I know) are wise to it but it's tremendous fun.

With Arsenal gone, I think the 5th place has too. Almost certainly.

In 1983 we wanted Man Utd to beat Brighton in the FA Cup final so as we got into the UEFA Cup. So it's not a new thing.

And more recently there were plenty of times these threads were full of us wanting the Sky6 to beat Wigan etc to help us stay up.

I prefer hoping they win to give us a safety net to qualify for the CL.

My memory may be playing tricks but didn't we avoid relegation in the Hillsborough year when Liverpool beat West Ham is a delayed fixture?

Yep, they hammered them from memory.

Yep played them on Tuesday after Cup Final and 3 days before Arsenal did them and took the crown. West Ham needed to win

Yep, they went 1-0 up and such is my hatred for Liverpool I was hoping West Ham would hold on and we’d got relegated.

I'm not sure that's right Percy.
I think it was 1-1 at HT but Liverpool scored first, from memory. it is easy to look things up but best to try and recollect information these days. When you look at the fixtures with cup final, this match then Arsenal it is no wonder Liverpool ran out of legs.

I think, if my recollection of 'Fever Pitch' is accurate, Arsenal then had to get half of whatever Liverpool got in the West Ham game to win the title, and as Liverpool won 4-0 they had to win by two at Anfield.

Would it still make a difference to the coefficient if WHAM were to win tonight, and Liverpool managed to go through? Or is that dead in the water now

Not dead, but probably needs both to win their games tonight, us and one of them to win the trophy and four German losses in the Champions League semis.
