When was the last time we weren't twatted by big bad Man City at their place?

Weren't we 2-0 up at their place a couple of seasons ago. Lost 3-2. Maybe I dreamt it.

Unfortunately you didn't, they won the league that day. We had the Olsen twins in goal which might partly explain the collapse.

Guardiola was whinging about their injuries too - Walker, Ake, Stones, Ederson. Hope they have their sideshow bob lookalike at right back, both Rogers and Zaniolo can dominate him. I think Bailey can have joy against the very average Gvardiol on the other side too.

I think we can score tonight anyway but sitting in and playing on the counter isn't something we have done this year. Big opportunity for Duran but I think he might struggle to hold the ball up. The likes of Haaland, KdB, Foden were appalling at the weekend so unfortunately we might get a reaction to that performance tonight.

That's pretty much exactly what I think. Also, Guardiola's been banging on for months about how much we battered them at our place, which I'm pretty sure he'll be using to motivate them tonight. Which isn't good news for us.
Au Contraire. They will be quaking in their boots knowing what we can do under Emery.

Lambert won there in the LC, Sherwood outplayed them there, Gerrard had us 2 up there. Our record there is wank and we may well lose, but worse managers and sides than Villa 2024 have gone there and given them a game. We want to be a regular top 4 side that is in the CL and challenges for trophies, it's time we stopped thinking like we're Villa 2012-2020.

You didnít dream it. Under Dean Smith and at 2-0 Ollie missed two glorious chances. The rest is history.

That was under Gerrard wasnít it?  Because wasnít it the he can make Liverpool champions game?

To be fair we did finish runners up in that game.

If we had our first team available I would be more than confident that we could give them a game and that's true for every team in the league more or less. It's our weakness rather than their strength that makes me less than confident this time around.

Yep.

Awful day. Threw away a 2 goal lead, lost the car as we couldn't find where we parked and ended up wandering all over the place, finally got home to find ants had invaded my kitchen.

Don't get me wrong, if I had to bet my life on it i'd go for a Man City win. But if anyone is going to pull off I result tonight i'd want Unai and this group of players, even with the players out, going in for me.

It's more I think we need to stop putting ourselves down so readily, we've spent 18 months now being one of the best sides in the country. Let's start thinking like that while it lasts. Be it for another week or for a decade.

Pep was very moody in the pre match prezzer.
Hopefully the pressure is getting to him.
They can not afford to lose tonight in context of the title.

In that context, I'm not sure they can afford to not win tonight.

I can't believe they aren't under FFP investigation.

They are arent they?

Didn't Todd Bohely (sp?) report the money laundering Oligarch for his dodgy dealings at Chelsea?

We've improved by a massive, scarcely believable amount. We still chuck in the odd stinker though, and I don't think it's really putting ourselves down to think that a win against Man City at their place isn't that likely, especially with McGinn, Watkins and Kamara out. I just think that we'd be up against it with a full team, but with the players out it becomes that much harder. They'll pass us to death, and I don't think Tielemans and Rogers will cope that well. Hope I'm wrong, because a good result would be massive with Spurs still to play them as well.

It would be a tad pleasing if at the end of the night they've only lost 2 of their last 34 games, and both were against us.

I don't think there's anything wrong at all with thinking we'll lose. It's the 'let's keep the  score down' and the thoroughly miserable 'we only beat them this season because they had players out' types that come across as downputters.
