My only surprise with Spurs is they haven't put 2 to 3 stars above the club badge already in recognition of their achievements.

They deserve to have 2 stars, one for each of the league titles they've won.

Is runners-up worth nothing?!

(No idea if they've ever been League runners-up.)

They came third in a two horse race in 2016.

It's some fans and media that build them up, not their players or manager. And many on here felt Spurs only had to turn up tonight to win while acting like we're plucky little Villa hoping not to get twatted by big bad Man City. And then complain about the media doing the same kind of thing. It's about time we bigged ourselves up, stopped thinking small time and also stopped bigging up other clubs and being insecure.

This is not an easy mantra to shake off though.  I mean even in our best season for years and years we’ve somehow managed to Villa our way to losing to the shittest newton Heath side twice.  You can understand the nervousness to get too carried away.

Exactly.

To get rid of that mantra you need to be consistently successful and actually win things. We are slowly getting there but we have had so many recent years of hurt its not so easy to turn off.

I also dont see anyone here labelling villa as small pr plucky like the quoted post suggests

When was the last time we weren't twatted by big bad Man City at their place?

That game where they got the offside goal and the rules were changed afterwards was pretty close wasn't it?

League Cup under Lambert, 4-2 (aet). In the League, I think 07/08 and a 2-0 win. Our only 2 wins at the Emptyhad. We’ve lost every other game not even a draw.

The rules weren't changed afterwards. The rule was already there, it simply wasn't applied on that occasion.
Who knows why.......

Weren't we 2-0 up at their place a couple of seasons ago. Lost 3-2. Maybe I dreamt it.

Unfortunately you didn't, they won the league that day. We had the Olsen twins in goal which might partly explain the collapse.

Guardiola was whinging about their injuries too - Walker, Ake, Stones, Ederson. Hope they have their sideshow bob lookalike at right back, both Rogers and Zaniolo can dominate him. I think Bailey can have joy against the very average Gvardiol on the other side too.

I think we can score tonight anyway but sitting in and playing on the counter isn't something we have done this year. Big opportunity for Duran but I think he might struggle to hold the ball up. The likes of Haaland, KdB, Foden were appalling at the weekend so unfortunately we might get a reaction to that performance tonight.

That's pretty much exactly what I think. Also, Guardiola's been banging on for months about how much we battered them at our place, which I'm pretty sure he'll be using to motivate them tonight. Which isn't good news for us.

I tend to agree…we’ll definitely miss McGinns energy and Watkins intelligent running tonight…great opportunity for Duran to show what he is about though.  Can make himself a star if he shines

You didn’t dream it. Under Dean Smith and at 2-0 Ollie missed two glorious chances. The rest is history.
