who've we played thats any good?

We've played the holders of the tournament twice, and beaten them pretty comfortably twice.
Yes the team that didn't qualify for the WC and just about got through tonight by the skin of their teeth.

We won’t get of the group stage if it is half decent.
That’s no reflection on the players.

No interest in England under Southgate , they are awful entertainment. Shame Watkins didn't play well but good for us he got hooked early and avoided any injuries.

As for the comments earlier about the fans who choose to spend thousands following the Southgate shit show circus around Europe and beyond they must have more money than sense .

No interest in England under Southgate

Why have you spent the evening being angry about it then?

Because I used to enjoy watching our national side , now it's like watching cement set . I was in and out the room it was that crap then when Watkins was hooked any interest in the game was gone so I walked the dog in the rain and it was more enjoyable.

But why would you watch any of it if you had "no interest in England under Southgate"?

You clearly do.

Oh yes?

Which particular era are you pining for? Back to the days of Hodgson? Capello? McClaren? Eriksson? Hoddle? Keegan?

We're going pretty far back now. Venables? Taylor?

Which golden age has Southgate managed to now spoil for you?

Because Watkins was playing and I hoped Konsa might get on but he remained the only outfield player over the 2 games to not get any minutes. Southgate is shocking.

England isn’t a mess. It’s just fucking dull to watch. And we will look back at not taking full advantage at some of the best players in world because the manager wasn’t good enough to get the most out of them. When the time comes he will fall back on his own conservatism and limitations. England will come close but not get over the line.

Southgate wouldn't get a job in any top half Prem team. Even one of his ex teams like Palace who are struggling wouldn't take him. His brand of football would get murdered by elite managers.  Imagine being a season ticket holder to watch that every week.

The turning point for me with Southgate was when we played at absolute stalemate against Scotland during the last Euros when they basically put 9 men behind the ball and sat deep.

Southgate's master stroke wasn't to bring on Dominic Calvert Lewin to give us some presence, someone to hit up top and then feed off knock downs (as it was that sort of game) but instead throw on Marcus Rashford to run into space that didn't exist and just get in each others way.

I realised at that moment just how below average Southgate was tactically so I'm not that surprised Konsa went as England's version of Bez from Happy Mondays.  Oh and Maguire FFS.

Southgate should have walked away when we lost to Croatia in the World Cup semi years ago.

And yet you'll be wanting them to give up their hard earned tickets for a game you happen to fancy at some point in the future because it's 'only fair to share'.

I keep asking myself why didn't France give up at 6, 8, 10, 12 against Gibralter?

Maybe the manager is trying to install a killer instinct, a winning mentality. Maybe the players are fighting for their place and know that form matters.

The complete opposite of Southgate and some of his motley crew.
