Imagine being steyooooopid enough to spend thousands of pounds following England abroad everywhere they go, and spending what it must have cost to get to North Macedonia (wherever the fuck that is, isn't it a place in Game of Thrones?) only to get served up that bucket of tepid dog sick.

I know a couple of chaps. who do just that, follow Engurlund everywhere. They're both in Macedonia tonight, sorry North Macedonia.

Summary:

Good:
Watkins unscathed.
Lewis.

Bad:
Maguire absolutely appalling yet stayed on for 90 minutes. A clown shoes who will cost in England in Germany.
Referee was pathetic.
No shape in defence or midfield and no clue how to break down the opposition.
Southgate looked clueless on the touchline.
Dion Dublin needs an urgent eye test.

Performance of the evening. Faroe Islands bottom of Group E, getting a draw in Albania who are top of Group E.

Shout out for San Marino, scoring in three consecutive matches.

I'd be surprised if that's ever happened before.

That jacket Joe Cole is wearing makes him looks like Alexi Sayle's Billy Baloswki off The Young Ones.

So Italy will be able to defend their title.

This shows the mess in English Football. 2 of our best players at Euro 2020 (our 2nd most successful tournament), now sit on the bench for Man City and are a shadow of what they could be.

We have half the players coming in off form or not regulars and they get in because they play for big brands.

We churn out shite coaches ten a penny because the more England Caps the more chances to get.  Absolute joke. We'll look back at this and think - christ how come we didn't win anything with these players.

It's not really looking a mess given the ease with which we've qualified, and we haven't lost a game in more than a year.

You can only play who you get drawn in your group with.

Bottom line is that the team is uninspiring, for all that we’ve had two or three very good finishes in finals.

As for looking back in years to come, well we should have beaten Italy. Should have absolutely fucking roasted them at Wembley. That’s the one Southgate really ought to be criticised for.

We've played the holders of the tournament twice, and beaten them pretty comfortably twice.

Agreed no losses in a year when there is no tournament and normally only a single loss in the tournament  year. England are formidable.

We'll look back at this and think - christ how come we didn't win anything with these players.

I expect we'd then look again and realise that we while we're better than we've been in ages, we still have one of the four or five best squads in the world rather than the best squad in the world.

And that it's a squad that still has Jordan Pickford in goal, a cobbled together mish-mash of "alright" central defenders, no second defensive midfielder and a selection of "alright" left-backs none of whom can ever stay fit.

Having one world-class striker and more tricky attacking midfielders than you know what to do with doesn't make you the best squad in the world.
