Just get rid - the benefits are outweighed by the costs.

Without VAR you are left with the goal being disallowed incorrectly. We forget all the correct decisions VAR gives and for us on the errors.

Tuesday's League One match between Leyton Orient and Lincoln City was abandoned after 82 minutes following a medical emergency in the crowd.

Stewards initially raced over to an area at the front of the East Stand at Brisbane Road with some home fans calling for play to be stopped.

The match kept going for a few minutes while the supporter was being treated, before one fan ran on to try to alert referee Stephen Martin.

The game continued until around 20 Orient supporters sat on the pitch at the home end as CPR continued on the fan and play was finally halted.

Orient were leading 1-0 at the time through Joe Pigott's 10th-minute goal.

The decision to abandon the game was announced at 22:25 BST, almost an hour after the match was paused, with medics still attending to the supporter.

"This evening's match will not be restarted due to the ongoing medical emergency in the East Stand," an Orient statement said.

"All of our hopes are prayers are with the supporter and his loved ones at this incredibly distressing time."

Great to see another farcical Man United defeat. Real mugged them spectacularly with Casemiro and probably Varane too.

Best wishes for the unfortunate person involved and well done to Orient supporters for getting the game stopped.

Lots of other phrases in that category I can think of that I wouldn't use either.

Yeah, it's rough when someone won't just shut up about their pet grievance.

Without VAR you are left with the goal being disallowed incorrectly. We forget all the correct decisions VAR gives and for us on the errors.

This one wasn't VAR as such, it was a complete communication breakdown between the officials.   Reading the transcript, the VAR official either didn't know the goal had been ruled offside or got completely confused.  Quite how he didn't know is the puzzling bit.

Not that I am sympathetic towards Liverpool (because it's always fun to see them lose and it's just a shame it wasn't at Anfield) but I think the annoyance is that a system which was introduced to redress human error has failed to do that.

Substantively, it doesn't really matter how or why, because these things should've been ironed out before it was ever implemented for it to make any legitimate claim to performing the function for which it was intended.

If VAR itself is subject to human error, then why not stick with basic first-/second-/third-/official human error, which, due to conscious or unconscious bias, is at least more likely to benefit Liverpool than hinder them.
