SJM interviewed at the end of the game. Looks fine.

Good news, the prayers must have worked.

I think it is brilliant that the likes of Gibraltar can play against France or whoever.
If the minnows were to be kicked out of international football then it would be a bit like all those wanker teams pushing for a European Super League where they wouldn't have to play lesser teams like Leicester, Wolves, Norwich and co.

No that is right , but maybe have preliminary qualifiers for the minnows to this

Why? The smaller countries don't want that. And the bigger countries don't need that.  France could have sent out an eligible team from the English Championship last night to give Gibraltar a game if they'd wanted.

They didn't, so they're clearly fine with how things are. They played their strongest possible team and gave Kylian Mbappe ninety minutes.

So this is a solution looking for a problem that nobody involved thinks is a problem.

France were making sure of the win as it would secure seed status for the tournament so Deschamps was not fannying about.

That said he could have picked the U17 team and they would have beaten Gibraltar.

Zaïre-Emery and a bunch of his mates from lycée could have beaten Gibraltar.

Really hope Watkins and Konsa don't play tonight. By all accounts the pitch is still very poor and some of the Italian players described it as dangerous after the last game played on it

Trippier pulled out of the squad yesterday, dunno if that increases the liklihood of Konsa playing. Probably not.

This is precisely the reason that predictions for the weekend are pointless until we know that two of our first picks get back to us unscathed.

Some fallacies here regards player injury which I will address.

Minor knocks and injuries that keep a player out are common occurrence if you play football! but they do not happen more frequently on international duty.

Every international period I frequently hear the fallacy and that people believe that injuries, let alone catastrophic ones, occur because a player is on international duty?

Why aren't people worried week by week and day by day about a player not suffering an injury every time they show up for training and matches at Villa? A player can get injured at any time. And they actually take more knocks and injuries when with the club.
We all have our theories, but this thinking about injuries during the international period is a fallacy.

Ferran Torres has just put Spain 2-1 up and then held up Gavi’s shirt, he went off in the first half, can only presume it’s a serious injury.

Just reading there he's done his ACL. "Complete tear" according to Barca. Needs surgery and could be out for 8-10 months.
