£35m release clause is fucking criminal. Criminal.

He was signed on a free, though, and he would have had other options on the table at the time. All the power was on his side.

If that release clause was there from the start amazing he stayed for so long.

He's our midfield playmaker/quarterback. Manzambi isn't a like for like; so we need to find somebody.

I think he might well be the replacement actually.

If Rogers stays, the Youri job is the one that Manzambi would be doing, particularly in that version where Youri was pushed up as the furthest forward of the midfield.

Didn't Manzambi drop deeper in their Argentina game, and effectively play that QB role?

United activate €41m release clause into Tielemans’ contract at Aston Villa, verbal agreement also with Belgian midfielder.

He didn't play, did he? Knee injury.

I was just about to get the Magritte Belgium shirt for the boy with Tielemans on the back.

So if it has to happen, at least it's the right side of me pressing the button on that.

Why is the power always on the other side in every transfer we every do bar Rogers, then? Where was all that power in the Guessand deal?

I think we just have to accept that, for all the things we do well, we fucking suck at transfers.

Fucking hell, I feel sick.

We talk about Rogers / Kamara being our best player, but I think Tielemans is the most important.

Jesus fucking Christ.

🚨 Youri Tielemans move from Aston Villa to Manchester United through £35m release clause in midfielder’s contract. #AVFC had no wish to sell + offered new deal but left with little choice due to mechanism & #MUFC set to proceed on transfer

The power in the Guessand deal was us using our clout to persuade a sought-after player to join us.

Good deal, wasn't it? Worked out beautifully. A stunning success.

£35m is criminally low, even for a 29 year old.  Can't help but think we've shit the bed here.

£35 isn't half what he's actually worth to us or what it'll cost to replace him. And to that shower of all places.

We must have some contingency, given a low release clause, it was always likely to happen.
