There was a bit of a roll of his ankle but I reckon it was mostly just the impact of taking studs to the back of his achilles, pretty similar to the one Ollie took on Thursday. No idea why the ref didn't give a foul though, he either didn't see it, which is piss poor given where it happened or he saw him tread on the back of his ankle and thought it was a fair challenge which is even worse.

I pray that it's not a serious injury I will cross everything and double cross them for no injury to him.

Wrap him in cotton wool and bubble wrap until Sunday morning.

Didn't even get a free. Naughty enough tackle, was never going to win the ball there.

Youri is our Unai on the pitch.

So intelligent.

Fingers crossed, he shakes it off.

The ref was about three yeards behind with a clear view, it seemed he thought he was reffing Woolagong vs Didgeridoo in the AFL back home.

Yep, the more you look at it the clearer it gets that it's an obvious yellow card and there's no way the ref shouldn't be able to see that. Thankfully it doesn't look, to me, like there's much beyond the impact so I reckon a bit of bruising, rested mid-week and back for next Sunday.

He didn’t want to see it. Just as he waited until Joelinton’s third blatant foul to issue a yellow card.

Newcastle and their players reek of entitlement which is shown by their reaction to the referee blowing up for some of the stuff they get away with every week. Barnes complaining bitterly about his shove on Maatsen was laughable.

We ended the game with more yellow cards and more fouls than Newcastle.

The Referee was poor yet again. I’m pretty sure when people were complaining about referees “not letting the game flow” a few seasons ago it was when they were pulling play back constantly for minor things, not blatant fouls.

Thought ref played with Newcastle in second half. There was also a blatant foul on Rogers on edge of their box that he missed. Joelinton's foul early on Tielemans? was a certain yellow.

Yeah, and that blatant foul was 'sorry can't do nothing' from VAR as it wasn't in the box. What a load of horseshit.

He was going to come back on the pitch, before they decided to make the sub - so I have to think it's not so bad.....although maybe the swelling kicked in over night.
