A 5 year contract on the table, medical done, just waiting for him to sign for the Plastics.

5-years.  We would struggled to match that, unless he takes a cut in wages.

And there you have it, no way could we put a 29 year old on a 5 yr £200k per week contract, and I'd be wary if we did tbh.

Get our turnover up to £600m+ like Man U and we could but not at the moment.

18m tops of Yuri, the  3.5 years of a player without the legs to play top 4 football any longer on £200k a week. Very Man United.

Yeah, good luck to him. He'd be mental to turn it down. The other Conference League teams will have players on a tenth of that.

Every now and again I worry they'll find their feet again, and then I see a deal like that it makes me laugh.

They have serious money, and completely unserious people in charge of spending it.

He'll be playing in Turkey or more likely Saudi Arabia within two years and the Plastics will probably get their money back.

I'd be suprised if Carrick has the attention to detail or the absolute rigour to implement a system in Man United, across a season, to get the best out if him.

It might be wishful thinking, but this is what my gut is telling me as well.

A comparison I might make, I heard someone saying that Portugal's problem (apart from the obvious) this summer was Joao Neves and Vitinha. And that because they're the best midfield in the world, people expect them to just carry on being the best midfield in the world when you take them from the PSG system and drop them into the Portugal "system". And Martinez doesn't really do anything with them apart from just expect them to carry on with what they're doing - but they can't do that because they need the rest of the structure to do what they are good at.

Youri strikes me as a systems player, and once you take him outside that, he's nowhere near as good. And Carrick ain't building no systems for him like Emery does.

I don't know, they seem to do these deals a lot and are then left scratching their heads when there's no takers as no interested clubs can get near the wages.

Yes, it's a definite modern Man United signing, rather than a classic Fergie's Man United signing. It's basically paid early retirement.

Very true. There's also the mad  inclusion of João Felix and Man U do love to collect that type of player. Everything that glitters is not gold.

Eamonn, don't even think about it! ;)
