Everything you need to know about Premier League refereeing (particularly involved that lot) was encapsulated in an incident in stoppage time. Shaw pulled Duran back and all the ref saw was Duran trying to continue his run which involved taking the clinging on Shaw with him. Result: free kick to them. It is more blatant now than ever.

Sadly it seems so. We just have no options off the bench apart from Bert to really make much of a difference. We really could do with Cash, Kamara and Coutinho back to give us a few more options.

If three of the four injured players are available for next week that would freshen everything up especially if one of them is Kamara.

A timely reminder as to the mental as much as physical freshness needed for the weekend-midweek-weekend regular rotation of games. We'll need a deeper squad but there'll be a lot of existing players that need to learn to manage the heavier workload if we make 7th and Europe.

I think the plan was similar to the game at Spurs, to keep it tight & take our chances in the 2nd half.

We could have nicked a goal but never tested De Gea nor put any pressure on thier back 4.

Special mention to Buendia for one of the worst performances I've seen in a long time.

I think people are being over harsh, especially on that second half.  I understand why and also feel pissed off.  But we had 2 cleared off the line (one by Konsa!) and should've had at least one penalty in my view.  We had the one from Moreno off the line first half too.  Their goal was one we could've prevented and was a bit lucky to sail in over 3 Villa players.  Yes, they hit lots of long balls over the top of our defence but never really looked like scoring from one of them.  They will consider that an extremely good 3 points. 

How likely is it that we will have the injured boys back next weekend?  That might make the difference to how well we finish the season.

Lack of squad depth is beginning to show. We really need the injured guys back for Wolves. Squad rotation required. I hope Kamara in particular is ready, although he's had only 45 minutes in 2 months.

I've only seen one half since the Newcastle game but from the sounds of things we have been pretty poor since then. So by my reckoning this is the 15,254th false dawn since I became a fan.

Disappointing result really. Fortunate to only be one down at the break and we finished very strong after the subs came in. Two cleared off the line. Thought Emery waited far too long to make the obvious changes. McGinn made much more impact in the middle and Chambers was much better on the right. Buendia's inability to retain possession was a liability and Watkins was disappointing again. Our motm was Konsa, thought he was superb again.

Martinez 6 - played sweeper keeper role very well but had to push the Rashford shot further away from danger
Young 4 - can't fault his effort but running on empty from very early on
Konsa 8 - calmness personified
Mings 7 - fortunate a couple of times but in the main solid again
Moreno 6 - little impact going forward today
Luiz 6 - Sabitzer sat on him and struggled to get involved, radar with passing a bit off, goal line clearance denied him the equaliser
Donk 5 - anonymous really, half a yard shot and should have been hooked earlier
Ramsey 6 - tried very hard but his touch needs improvement
McGinn 6 - little impact on right but got more involved when switched inside
Buendia 4 - gave ball away constantly, fortunate Coutinho is unavailable
Watkins 5 - slipped at crucial moment in first half, pocketed by Lindelof

Chambers did well as did Digne. Duran had no impact and Traore the turn at the end aside did very little too. Emery, picked wrong team for me and changes should have been made earlier.

Emery keeps saying "very soon, but not this weekend" but none of them have even been pictured training and Kamara was still in a protective boot last week.

We need upgrades on both Ramsey and Buendia. Especially the latter.
