Wasn't this guy, Lenglet at Spurs? And if so, he was crap.

Spurs tend to make even good players look crap.

The spurs fans I know - too many sadly - rated Lenglet and wanted to sign him permanently.  They were/are too skint, plus the changes of manger I suppose.

Supposedly they could have had him for £8m. Peanuts when you've just sold Kane for £100m. They chose to buy that van de Ven instead.

As an aside, Sky using the term 'Ange Ball' as if the way Spurs are playing is a new invention is nauseating.

Has that Footy chap started working at Sky?

One of my Spurs supporting mates said he was bang average at best...

If we judged players at other clubs while the club struggled then pretty much every one of our players inherited by Emery would have been released on a free based on our opinions of them.

I recall, a while ago, we signed a journeyman centre forward.  He was also crap, played for Birmingham too.  Peter something, can't remember the rest.

Not a pop at you Pablo.

Its all good chap.

My response to my mate was that not every squad / backup player has to be a world beater...

Is Lenglet really on €200,000+/week at Barca?!

We ain't getting any more forwards are we.

Personally think this is a mistake. If Watkins gets injured we have nobody. He can't keep playing 40+ games a season every year. We've been lucky so far.

I think we could do with a chris sutton type signing, some cover for Watkins without threatening his position as the main man (we know from ings he doesn't like competition for a shirt) an old veteran who's happy to to come in for the odd 5 mins here and there. Vardy Wellbeck Schurrle

We are covered now at the back and in midfield. Just one more forward please.

We've got 3 fit centre backs in Konsa, Carlos and Pau with Chambers as a utility player. If we're going to be playing Konsa at right back or playing out with a back 3, we need cover. And with Lenglet being a left footed centre-back, a season long loan with an option to buy, makes sense to cover while Mings is out.

Moans "we are short at the back given Mings injury"
Solution sign an international with Premier League experience from Barcelona on loan
Moans "why have we signed him?"
More moans "we wont be signing a striker and its a mistake"
Today is 30 August not 1 September lets see what happens next
I appreciate this new Villa stuff takes a bit of keeping up with but sit back and enjoy the ride
