It'd be nice to think that one of the big players we've been linked with, that dismissed us, have been looking at our last few matches and thinking "oh, that looks exciting......"

Personally, I think, the only one that would really derail everything would be Unai getting pinched.

That’s already been text to me by multiple people today, all saying he’ll be off to manage Spain at the earliest opportunity.

I'd imagine he'd want to prove himself in the PL first, plus he might find international mgmt a bit boring with fewer opponents to analyse day in, day out.

I think he would find managing an international team too boring, he needs that day-to-day stuff and regular games. He's also from the Basque area so might not be too fussed about the national team.

Supporters of other teams who don't like the idea of the Villa doing well.

I just can’t see Unai wanting to manage an international team yet. That job will come around every so many years and he’s less than a year into this “project”.

If say he’d been here 5 years and won a couple of trophies then maybe.

Can’t see him wanting a part time job.

He's barely fifty and seems to need constant hits of football like a junky. Don't think he's leaving the club game any time soon.

I think if he took an international job he'd want to be in charge of the mens and womens teams, and at all age groups.

I can't imagine Emery managing an international team.
He'd be bored not having any football for months on end.

I don’t see us losing anyone we dont want to lose before the deadline though I am surprised that the usual London centric muckrakers haven’t linked our top players & coach to their bang average over egged clubs.

Think it only becomes an issue if at the end of the season we haven’t threatened a trophy or properly challenged for top 6.

Maybe it's because so far this season none of the "Top 4" are looking particularly impressive. There's usually an air of "player X is too good to be at Villa, he should be playing for soandso".

I know the bias runs deeper than logic for a lot of them, but other than the opportunity for immediate Champions League football, there's not a lot on offer from the bigger clubs at the moment.

Even with Man City, who will probably win the league and pay quite well, there's no guarantee of regular game time from Pep.

If you're Luiz or Martinez, who else apart from Manchester City is a guaranteed upgrade? Liverpool are all over the place, Manchester United don't know who their owners will be from one week to the next, Chelsea are struggling to get back up there, Arsenal and Spurs are perennial flatterers to deceive, Newcastle are inconsistent. And the club you play for now are getting better by the week.

International management isn’t what it used to be, ie the pinnacle of a career.

It’s be far too slow for Emery, anyway, imagine him waiting months between matches.

All plans and no play makes Unai a sad boy.
