With the injuries already, plus outgoings the squad looks way too thin for potentially 50 plus matches. A couple more injuries, and fatigue and the season could be ruined. I really thought the squad would have a much stronger look by this stage of the transfer window. Perhaps they'll sign a couple more before deadline day next Thursday?

I would be happy with a RB and back up goalkeeper.

The biggest surprise in this window is that other clubs that are or see themselves as big clubs haven’t come for our better players to unsettle a competitor like Manchester City did to us, Arsenal & Everton when their govt took them over….if Caicedo is 100m+ then Douglas & Kamara come into the same grouping.

Sure it would be good to get 1 or 2 more in but keeping our better players is vital.

Yep, but to break into the CL you probably need to do both

If we’re selling Coutinho the need for players is even more heightened.

We can't rely on him so it's best he leaves. I'm disappointed we have let likes of Aaron Ramsey and Archer go though, they would have got plenty of chances this season.

Yep, I’d have used the European games to test Ramsey, Archer, PJB and possibly Tim.  The club have decided to go another route and I can only assume They’ll all be replaced by one more established forward.

I think Ramsay will show his worth at Burnley & he'll be back at Villa Park within a year or two. If Jacob was coming into contention now, we'd be doing exactly the same thing with him as we are with Aaron. We aren't the lower table team we were.

Archer I'm less convinced by, he's a finisher but we'll see.

We need a right back, another centre half & someone who can play across the front.

You can add in a left back & a no10 if Digne or Couthino go.

But I can't see all that happening over the next few days.

Whoever we sign needs to stay fit. Paying players to lie on the treatment table is a recipe for losing games and money quickly.

I would love to know how the club can guarantee that.

That would have been my thinking with keeping Archer and Ramsey jnr. They could have quite easily been in the starting 11 against Hibs and played 3/4 group games against the 5th best team in Macedonia and held their own. Moving them on was good for FFP but I would have liked to have given them  a chance here.

Poch was saying yesterday he wants a new keeper so I wouldn't count my chickens just yet. But I do remember seeing something that implied we'd made it clear earlier in the window that approaches for certain players wouldn't be entertained at all, which implies everyone's happy staying here and won't push for moves.

Yes, but in the way that we probably want a new keeper. Not to replace the first choice guy, but because Betinelli is more of a third, not second choice.

Martinez is going nowhere this summer

Hah, true.

£60m and an eight year contract for Olsen to sort out Chelsea's keeper worries sounds like a win for all parties.
