This the Barca that couldn't register Gundogan until a day before la liga due to their lack of money.

Left back and right back need cover/ options now. Be interesting what/ who we go for at centre half.

No idea who this player might be but a right back that can fill in a CB would be ideal. A player like White at Arsenal.
He’d be useful for Plan A (the asymmetrical back 4) plus would provide cover for injuries at CB.

Foyth from Villareal might be an easy/lazy solution.

I think you just described Chambers :-)

I genuine upgrade on chambers (and cash) would be ideal.

Too many ifs right now and too much reliance on Emery working miracles with what we’ve got which is not sustainable. We’ve not done nearly enough in this transfer window even accounting for our unfortunate injuries.

Will we sign a replacement for Tyrone, a leader and someone who can organise the back line?

He’s a bit of an old head now but is a leader and organiser at the back, Simon Kjaer, tons of experience, might be a cheap short term solution and sure was at Seville so knows Monchi.

I wish we hadn't mucked about in pre-season trying Torres at left back.

2 defenders and genuine competition for Watkins are pretty much essential now

If we hadn’t we wouldn’t know if it was viable or not.

Priorities should be a RB & a top quality striker with height, power & pace.

For me, Watkins is backup quality, if we are trying to become an elite club.

I just wish we had picked up Isak when he was available. He is ideal for our front line.

Hopefully Zaniolo can become that for us, if we can negotiate a deal with the purchase 'option' within a loan.

I wish we hadn't mucked about in pre-season trying Torres at left back.

I am hoping that we just bite the bullet & go straight to a back pairing of Diego Carlo & Pau Torres.

They are the stronger defenders & if we are going to have to get them up to speed in a rush, then lets just get it out of the way.

Konsa is already up to speed & tbh, in my humble opinion, is a weaker footballer & defender than Carlos, so should be backup.

Especially after yesterdays debacle.

And having Carlos next to Torres should help with the aerial issues that Torres might have.

We conceded quite a few in a short space of time while Mings & Konsa got up to speed with how Emery wanted them to play, so I see a few more high conceding games in the near future.

So we might as well just bite the bullet & go with the strongest pairing we have in terms of ability.

We don't really know about Carlos's ability.

We don't really know about Carlos's ability.

We do know about his ability from his time at Sevilla.

Well, some of us do...

The main question is his fitness after his achilles injury...

What would the so called top clubs do if faced with losing two very important players for the season, they would not be bothered by paying over the top to preserve their position.

And maybe we will.

I don’t consider letting the second eldest outfielder in the league leave, a mistake in of itself. But if Ashley Young was keeping Cash out the team then not replacing him IS a mistake.

Perhaps we have Monchi working on something but it seems a strange one.
