My mate is a teacher and yesterday had to calm down a kid swinging a cricket bat, shouting his name and threatening to “Do him”. The confrontation ended with the kid being taught how to do a proper forward defensive shot. He’s an excellent teacher.

Teachers deserve a rise.

There are certain professions which, let's face, probably do fuck all. I have a mate who consults for companies with huge government contracts (currently in the immigration field, incidentally), and his considered opinion is that many of the people in charge of these outfits are fucking morons who spend their time telling everyone how great they are and covering their arses rather than doing anything of actual value.

Teachers, on the other hand, are the people responsible for ensuring that the next generation don't grow up to be knuckle-dragging neanderthals incapable of keeping a functioning society going and ensuring us lot don't die old and infirm in a puddle of our own piss.

Teaching also looks to me like a fucking rock hard job and I couldn't imagine doing it in a billion years.

So I'd be quite happy to see them paid very generously, although yes I'd still probably whine like a twat about my taxes going up. Like many people, I got an A* in my Cognitive Dissonance GSCE (thanks Mrs Peters).

Anyway. Have we signed Chukwueze yet?

which doesn't mean he isn't an English player, rather that he isn't/won't be an England player

Emi Martinez, anybody rate him? I hear Chelsea are interested and seems cheap at £24m as valued by Transfermarkt.

Seriously, even at £80m I think they'd be getting a bargain, not that I would ever consider selling him.

The state school system is so infested with leftists that I pay for my kids to be privately educated. Labour are already talking about lumping more cost on those fees to pay for a service I chose not to use. They have a lot of holidays, don’t work particularly long hours, took a long holiday during Covid whilst I worked all the way through it. Not the slightest bit interested in paying them more.

Quite right! I mean how important to a country's future are [checks notes] children?

But, as I'm sure you say, you get what you pay for.

#ToriesForDecline

Very important, they deserve better. They won’t get it until teachers spend more time teaching and less time being activists.

If only the left wing hadn't been in charge of the national curriculum for the last decade and a half WAIT HOLD THE FORT NEWS JUST IN
It would be like Scotland?

Scotland really hasn’t had a left wing Government for the last decade.

Sorry. I'm always miles behind the conversation.

BTW, I've been hearing rumours we are interested in signing Mark Draper.
