I'm so bored I almost downloaded Football Manager. But then I'd have to muck around with the database to make football less hateful (I'm not dealing with the shit in fantasyland like I have to in real life) and then there would go the weekend. And the following week. And the fo - well you get the idea.

Am bored enough to ask what you’d change?  Bankrupt Man City and PSG?

Fuck yes, but it's the tip of the iceberg. Reducing the gap between rich and poor, making the EPL less dominant, maybe putting Joe in like, Turkey.

Do they still allow you to select brand new generated player database?

I remember playing one years back that basically just deleted all real life players & then generated the whole of the worlds playing squad.

It was great not having to ignore the best players because I despised them in real life...

Scouting was fun too, cos I didn't know anything about anybody...

Not the thing you want to do traveling to Naples. Some fucking England fans are such complete wankers

It's the same idiot from Burnley that flew the 'White Lives Matter' over Turfmoor a couple of years ago. Enough said.

He deserves to meet some of the 'ultras' from Napoli in a dark alley...

Our previous director of football before Lange, Suso. Scouted like he didn't know anything about anybody.

Lobby Lud

Quote
Lobby Lud is a fictional character created in August 1927 by the Westminster Gazette, a British newspaper, now defunct. The character was used in readers' prize competitions during the summer period. Anonymous employees visited seaside resorts and afterwards wrote down a detailed description of the town they visited, without giving away its name. They also described a person they happened to see that day and declared him to be the "Lobby Lud" of that issue. Readers were given a pass phrase and had to try to guess both the location and the person described by the reporters. Anyone carrying the newspaper could challenge Lobby Lud with the phrase and receive five pounds (about £320 in 2023[1]).

The competition was created because people on holiday were known to be less likely to buy a newspaper. Some towns and large factories had holiday fortnights (called "wakes weeks" in the north of England); the town or works would all decamp at the same time. Circulation could drop considerably in the summer and proprietors hoped prizes would increase it.

The character's name was derived from the paper's telegraphic address, "Lobby, Ludgate".

The British colloquial phrase "You are (name) and I claim my five pounds" is associated with Lobby Lud, despite being based on a similar idea thought up by a different paper.

I learnt about Lobby Lud from Brookside.

Harry Cross: That you Edna?

Edna Cross: Who do you think it is? Lobby Lud?

I had to ask the old lads at work what she meant, my (Irish) Mom and Dad didn't have a clue. Having recently watched "Brighton Rock" the character Kolley Kibber sounds like it was based on Lobby Lud.

No, if there's one good thing come from this international break it's that I finally understand where "... and I claim my £5" comes from

I wasn't aware of its provenance either but it has been used on here quite a bit and is fairly self-explanatory.

Usually when it's the international break weekend Sky will televise a couple of games from League 1 and/or 2. This weekend, as far as I can see, nothing.

Edit: actually, I see Forest Green v Sheffield Wednesday is on tomorrow lunchtime.

Ha I've never tried that! That sounds wild to be fair, just embracing the pure fiction side. Might try it one day.
