After Thursday, it's really intelligent to play tonight.
It's obviously a drill for the Europe evenings and turnarounds.
This will be our final pre season game before the trip to Newcastle but I think all the data collected is actually meaning this is our first match for what it represents.

Pau at LB today it seems
What seems to be occurring is that to fit Mings and Pau in the team Pau must be required as a left back and a right back is pushed forwards so Pau isn't a regular left back. It's very interesting use of him as he hasn't played that before comimg to Villa just simply played Mings position as a left centre-back.

Not sure Pau there worked against Brentford so this will be interesting to see. It does seem first choice though although I can see Tielemans for Bailey next week. Especially away from home to a decent team.

it's only what several people have been saying for a while: Emery is using the asymmetrical back 4 which Arteta employed for most of last season and which Guardiola adopted to accommodate Stones.
No drama.

Probably next week's team too.
Because of the nature of turnarounds and the typical practise of sorting out the strongest and fittest players, I expect someone will get harmed. It happened with my horses. Different but similar. It also happened my 3 pre seasons at a lower level of football.

Those who do not properly warm up or perform the appropriate tasks during the summer will be exposed tonight.
This is distinct from any injury caused by an opponent on players.

In that lineup, I see three guys who are likely to have hamstring difficulties yes a defender In particular and a wide player. I also can see foot or knee injuries inflicted for those who didnt keep up their weight and strength in conditioning.

Let's simply watch what happens as don't want to say I have any particular foresight but I do know what I know on such matters

I must say I dont like this "experiment" with Cesh as RWb and Pau as left LCB/LB. I think it would be better to drill a back four with Chambers/ Konsa - Konsa / Mings /Carlos - Torres (Mings if Torres cant play)- Moreno / Digne. Unusual formations like this dont often far well over time.

Me either, Pau looked like a fish out of water at left back.

Same here. He scares the shit out of me at left back. Far more comfortable as a left central defender though I still prefer Mings there right now.

I think it’s worth sticking with to give us another option and we did keep a clean sheet the other night.

New ID worked a treat - thanks to everyone for helping. Just waiting for coverage to begin.

The music they're playing is nice. Sort of like U2, Coldplay and The Red Hot Pepper Chillis all rolled into one. Something for everyone there. Cough.
