Aston Villa have given Jhon Durán the Number 9 shirt.@PSierraR

Really!?

If that doesn't motivate him, nothing will.  The most iconic of all Villa shirts.

We associate the 9 shirt with iconic names but in recent memory it’s been worn by some really shit players.

I don't disagree with the latter years but given it's our 150th year, Duran needs to be pointed in the direction of some of the historical players who have worn that shirt.

He doesn't strike me as the type who has much interest in history.

I thought a couple of days'ago someone posted that Watkins would be wearing 9 this season.

Useless with crosses etc.

Injury record was good though, came back from that career ender at Easter.

There's something I like about Duran, but equally there's something I don't like. Therefore I wouldn't be that bothered if we sold him, we need to be smart who we replace him with as Watkins will need some challenge, but we don't want to throw silly money at someone who could be a bench warmer.

His walking on water trick wasn’t a patch on Sir Brian’s.

Happy for him to stay - it's also a great opportunity for him too. Involvement in every match-day squad, on the pitch in at least 30 games, probably starting at least 10. Champions League, top 6 PL club - what's not to like for a 20 year old. He'd be mad to move to West Ham now or the desert.
